CHAPTER 6: A Silver Goddess!
Damian
The strangest part was still being in her human form with all that lividness exuding from her. Tusk-sharp claws I would never imagine on a broken weakling like her. Scary canines exposed in a bitter snarl. Her naturally black hair waved thicker over her back with ancient silver streaks, gleaming no differently from the blinding light in her eyes, or do I call it blazing flames?
The room burned hotter with every passing second.
She suddenly rose from her crouched position, and I stepped back impulsively.
This wasn't the time to slack off. She needed to be put under control before she did something crazy. And only a bigger control of authority could subdue her.
“That's an interesting transformation now.’’ I managed to retrieve control from the shock in my strained chest, but still unable to hide my amusement. I could tell this was her first time wielding all that power pulsating through her, and she looked nothing short of wild… maniacally wild, a rock opposite of the vegetable I shared a few words with earlier.
Without a second glance my way, she marched towards the door.
‘‘Where to?’’ Horror crossed my chest.
Dry laughter reverberated through the room from her. ‘‘You weren't deaf just now…’’
“It's because I think you're being senseless right now.’’ I could have said it in a less insulting manner, but this was the only way I was sure to grasp her interest.
As expected, she spun right back to face me with a condescending glare.
“What now, you're gonna run down to Mooncrest pack and hunt Richard down? Without any prior planning?’’
Her shoulders dropped, realising her thoughtlessness. The silver light oozing from her eyes dulled down, and she quietly walked to stand before me.
“What are you suggesting then?’’ I didn't miss her balled up fists by her sides, waiting for an unleash.
“We should come up with a plan. If you're so hungry for revenge we could start right away.’’ I was still saying but a snigger dropped from her.
“You think I would join forces with you?”
“You don't have a choice, Veronica!’’ I yelled for the second time today.
Maybe I shouldn't have.
With a sharp swing of her hand, the ceramic vase on the table flew straight at me with colliding force on my knee, shattering down on my injured toe. “That was moments ago.” She screamed. “Not anymore. I'm not the helpless broken Luna anymore. Now I'm not letting myself be used by anyone and that includes you, Alpha Damian!’’
She was going wild, looking around for something else to smash. She was losing control to whatever force had possessed her, and it was flat-out going to get really ugly if she wasn’t brought under control immediately.
“Veronica Grimston!’’ I yelled, losing my own nerves as sharp pain stung deep in my leg. The shattered vase spared some broken pieces in my flesh and stirred a fresh flow of blood when Ruth only just tended to it three hours ago.
The silver goddess froze. Silenced. Shocked. She blinked repeatedly, slowly portraying traits of normality. “How did you… what did you call me?’’
Great. That did the job.
“Get a grip of yourself. Or you may eventually have to sustain your renowned era for only a few hours.’’ I snapped.
Her demeanor slowly dessicated. From the sharp claws withdrawing to the silver streaks on her hair disappearing and returning to its normal mid-length black. She collapsed to the ground, which was only normal considering the level of power she'd just experienced.
A snort breezed off my nostrils. “Marcus.’’
Silence.
I turned to the door. We'd both rushed down here after hearing Veronica scream like that, turns out I'd been all by myself after finding the strange nature she'd transformed into.
I walked over to pick her from the ground to the bed. Before I touched her sounds of footsteps came approaching hastily, and Marcus appeared with Ruth entering behind him, carrying a silver bowl.
“Damian! Are you okay? What the hell was that?’’ Marcus spat, his voice filled with horror and disbelief.
“What happened to her, Alpha?’’ Ruth's concern was the motionless woman laying flat on the floor.
I scoffed, getting back up. “Take her to the bed, she only blacked out.’’
Marcus got it immediately, while Ruth followed him to get some check up done on her.
Marcus acknowledged the shattered flower vase on the floor and blood trails on the tiles following my steps. “Let's get it fixed quickly. It's still bleeding.’’
“After you, Alpha.’’ Came Ruth, stepping away from the bed to join us.
“How is she doing?’’
“It was just a momentary pass out. Her breathing and pulse is stable so she should be up in a few minutes.”
I nodded, glanced one last time at the shattered vase on the floor before heading out. Whatever it was that possessed Veronica, I sure as hell knew it didn't just stop at that display earlier. It went way deeper and more meaningful. Maybe even dangerous too.
“Speak about having more to her than meets the eye! Turns out this was it all along.” Marcus quoted as Ruth tended to my leg, still unable to get over the revelation.
“We have to get her under control.’’ That was the only thought that bothered me right now. “It seems the whole thing just only got unleashed today, she doesn't have control over the forces yet.’’
Marcus hesitated. “Do we have to?’’
I sprang my chin up. “What do you mean?’’
‘‘If she'll cause danger, it's only right that we do away with her immediately. It won't be nice to wait until another person gets hurt.’’ He said flatly, plainly withdrawing himself from the idea already.
“You don't seem to get it, do you?’’ I snapped and ended up moving my leg wrongly, causing pain to shoot up my ankle.
This darn Beta of mine! Veronica was my only tool to get Richard for now. No matter what she does, we had to keep up with her for now. For as long as I'll be needing her. Especially now that it seems she had potential… more useful potentials.
“I think you're the one who isn't getting it.’’ Marcus sighed. The type of sigh that felt like it held too many unspoken words behind.
“What is it?’’
“The pack is searing with news that you brought a monster into the land.’’ Marcus blurted out.
