Derek Johnson trudged wearily from the bar, unsteadily weaving this way and that way as he walked. He paused a little and looked around at the mostly deserted parking lot. It was still quite early in the night as far as he was concerned, but the bitter cold made most people prefer the comfort of their homes. Not Derek, however. There was no one to go home to. Janet had left him six months ago and till this day, there was nothing that Derek hated more than going back to his empty home after work every day.
