The private plane glided smoothly onto the runway, the whirring of the engines slowly coming to a stop as the aircraft came to a halt. The sun was rising, casting a soft golden light over the tarmac. Their arrival was approximately twenty-two minutes past eight in the morning. The door to the plane opened with a hiss, revealing the imposing figure of Leandro, now dressed in a sleek black suit and a fedora hat. He descended the steps of the plane, his polished leather shoes clacking on the metal stairs. Alonzo trailed closely behind him, carrying a dapper leather briefcase. A group of escorts awaited him at the foot of the stairs, their cars lined up in perfect formation. The mafia boss strode confidently towards them, his sharp eyes scanning the faces of those waiting for him, they were dressed in sleek black suits, their cars gleaming in the light. As he approached a particular car, one of the escorts opened the door for him. The boss slid into the back seat, his presence filling the vehicle. Alonzo followed suit, taking the seat next to him, the briefcase placed carefully on a designated spot. The escort closed the door behind him, and the cars pulled away from the runway. The car wound its way through the streets, Leandro sitting in silence, his thoughts hidden behind a stoic expression. The escorts drove with precision, their movements synchronized as if they were part of a well-oiled machine. The vehicles weaved their way down the narrow path that hugged the seaside, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore a constant backdrop. Finally, they pulled up outside a large, imposing building, flanked by two figures in sharp suits. Leandro wasted no time, his steps quick as he strode towards the entrance. His eyes locked with those of the guards, and they nodded respectfully, stepping aside to allow him entry. A few of his escorts followed. The building was opulent, with polished marble floors, plush carpets, and glittering chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, and appeared to be one of the owner’s new purchases. Leandro had barely walked in when a man with a distinguished white beard approached him, looking like he was in his late forties. “Leandro Vinci!” The man greets him with a polite chuckle and reached to shake hands. It was clear that they had met many times before and had a good rapport. “Giovanni” Leandro called his name in a respectful yet amusing manner. “Good to see you again, Vinci," the man said with a smile. "Likewise, my friend," Leandro replied a hint of amusement in his voice. "It's always a pleasure to do business with you." The two men settled into the grand exterior, taking in the stunning view of the sea. The waves crashed against the shore, creating a soothing rhythm that seemed to lull the men into a sense of ease. The man with the white beard cleared his throat, drawing Leandro's attention back to him. "I trust you had no trouble finding the place," he said, his voice smooth and confident. Leandro shook his head. "No trouble at all," he replied, his tone even. "I'm here to discuss a new proposal." The man nodded, a shrewd glint in his eye. "Of course, of course," he said, reaching into his pocket to pull out a cigar. He offered one to Leandro, who declined with a small shake of his head. The man lit his own cigar, the smell of tobacco mingling with the sea air. Giovanni soon signalled one of his guards. He whispered something in the guard's ear, and the guard left, only to return a few moments later with a remarkable wine bottle. “This is a special one," the man with the white beard said, holding up the bottle for Leandro to see. "I thought we could celebrate our successful partnership." Leandro nodded, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you, my friend." Giovanni uncorked the bottle with a flourish, pouring the deep red liquid into crystal glasses. They clinked their glasses together in a toast, the sound echoing across the stillness of the seaside. Leandro swirled the red liquid around for a moment before taking a sip. He closed his eyes briefly and savoured the taste before setting the glass down on the table in front of him. "Impressive," he remarked to the man across from him. "You really have outdone yourself this time, Giovanni." Giovanni grinned, pleased with the compliment. "It's a special vintage from my private collection," he replied. "I knew you would appreciate it. As you like it, I will be sending some to you as a gift” Leandro nodded, his gaze fixed on Giovanni. "You know, I've always admired your taste in wine, Giovanni. It's one of the reasons I've always respected you in this business." Giovanni inclined his head, looking pleased. "Thank you, Vinci. Your words mean a lot to me." Leandro leaned forward, his voice dropping to a low, conspiratorial tone. "But of course, my admiration for you goes far beyond just your taste in wine. I know you're a man of many talents, Giovanni. And I believe that we could do great things together, again” Giovanni's eyes narrowed slightly as he regarded Leandro. "What are you proposing, exactly?" Leandro smiled enigmatically. "Let's just say that there are certain opportunities that have presented themselves recently, and I believe that with your help, we could take advantage of them in a way that would be very profitable for both of us." Giovanni leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "I'm listening," he said. Leandro leaned back in his chair as well, a smug expression crossing his features. He knew that he had Giovanni right where he wanted him and that he would be able to use this opportunity to cement his power. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, Leandro's car smoothly pulled up in front of an unremarkable office building. The fading light cast long shadows across the ornate facade, giving it an almost mystical quality. With a confident stride, he exited the car and strode purposefully towards the entrance, his escorts following closely behind. The sound of their footsteps echoed through the vast space, giving the impression that they were walking through a palace rather than an office building. An escort pressed the button of an elevator as they approached, and the doors opened with a soft chime. The group stepped inside, the guards positioning themselves strategically around the perimeter of the elevator. Leandro stood in the centre, his sharp eyes fixed forward. Alonzo stood beside him, his briefcase still in his hand, their faces impassive. The meeting had been dragging on for what seemed like an eternity, and Leandro's patience was wearing thin. He leaned forward, his eyes fixed on the two men seated across the table from him, his attention mainly focused on the one in his early forties. With a sudden burst of frustration, Leandro slammed the files down onto the table, watching as they scattered in different directions. The men across from him flinched, their eyes widening in surprise at the sudden outburst. For a moment, there was silence in the room, broken only by the soft rustling of papers as they settled where they had fallen. Outside, the night city skyline glimmered through the massive glass window, a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere inside. Leandro then brought his face slightly down. Fingers patiently tapping on the table for a while. "You played with my money, Roberto," Leandro finally said, his voice a low growl. He still didn't look directly at either of them, but they could feel his anger simmering just below the surface. And then he raised his gaze to the very man the words were for. Roberto shifted in his seat, his palms clammy as he tried to avoid Leandro's intense gaze. The other man remained stoic, but his eyes darted nervously between Roberto and Leandro. "I don't know what you're talking about, Sir Vinci," Roberto said, his voice shaking slightly. Leandro let out a low, humourless chuckle. "Don't insult my intelligence, Roberto. You know exactly what I'm talking about. You thought you could steal from me and get away with it?" But then the other man spoke up for the first time. "Mr Vinci, I assure you that I had nothing to do with this. Roberto acted alone." Leandro turned to him, his eyes narrowed. "You're Marco, right? You're Roberto's business partner?" Marco nodded. Leandro stood up suddenly, and the two men flinched. "If Roberto acted alone, then you won't have any problems with me," he said, his tone deadly serious. "But if I find out that you were involved, you'll face the same fate as Roberto." Roberto tried to stand up but the two guards near him held him back down. "Listen, Vinci, I can explain--" Leandro cut him off with a fierce gesture. "I don't want to hear it, Roberto. You've stolen from me, and that's a mistake you won't get away with." he held his hand up and the guard shifted a step back from the man. Roberto's eyes darted nervously around the room, but Leandro's gaze never wavered. He held all the power in the room, and he wasn't afraid to use it. Leandro leaned forward, his broad shoulders filling the space between them. "I give you until the end of this month to return my money and 20% interest." Roberto's face fell, and he knew he was in deep trouble. But he still tried to plead his case. "Sir Vinci–" “Consider this your warning," Leandro cut him off, his voice low and dangerous "Cross me again, and you won't be so lucky." The room fell silent, and the two men stared at each other. Leandro's message was clear: he was not to be messed with. Roberto knew that he had to find a way to make things right, or he could end up dead or worst. And just then, Leandro turned on his heel, his mind already working on the next steps he had to take. He knew that he had to be careful, but he was ready to do whatever it took to protect his empire. The guard followed him out of the room, and as the door closed behind them, the tension in the air dissipated. But the message had been sent. Leandro stood alone by the poolside at the heart of the Vinci residence, the water shimmering under the soft glow of the moon. His facial expression was stoic, yet indescribable, as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. His steady hands shook ever so slightly with a mix of anger and frustration. With a deep breath, Leandro pulled his tie loose around his neck and unbuttoned a few buttons of his crisp white shirt. He needed to clear his head, and the only way he knew how was to smoke. He took out a cigarette and held it between his lips, his eyes scanning the expansive view in front of him as he flicked the lighter with a practised hand. The small flame illuminated his chiseled features as he inhaled deeply, the smoke curling around his head like a thick fog. For a few moments, Leandro was lost in thought, his mind racing with all the businesses at hand and a few problems. The situation with Roberto the previous night was just the tip of the iceberg, and Leandro knew he needed to tread well if he wanted to maintain his power and prestige– because in the world he is in. Power is first. Leandro remained fixed on the tranquil surface of the pool, his eyes focused on the reflections before the faint sound of one approaching emitted behind. Alonzo soon cleared his throat, announcing his presence. Leandro took a deep breath of the cool night air and exhaled slowly, "How did it go, Alonzo?" He asked without turning, his voice calm and measured. "The client has requested some additional information, which I've already sent over. I'm confident we can close the deal soon," Alonzo replied, his voice carrying the same sense of confidence. With a final drag on his cigarette, Leandro crushed it beneath his polished shoe "Good work. Keep me updated on any further developments," he said, before turning back to the pool. "Do you need me to make pacts for the club?" Alonzo asked before a woman in a black and white uniform began to approach them with a bottle of red wine and a glass. Her high heels clicked against the pavement with each step, and the soft glow of the lights cast a shadow behind her as she moved. Just above her knee, her skirt stopped, revealing long, toned legs, and her blouse was crisp and white, accentuating her curves. She carried herself with an air of confidence, her dark hair pulled back into a neat bun. Leandro's eyes flickered towards her as she approached, but he didn't look directly at her. He simply continued to stare out at the pool with his usual stoic expression as she gracefully poured the wine into the glass. After setting the glass down on a nearby table, she shifted back with a small, almost imperceptible bow before she silently made her exit. "The club could wait," Leandro said reaching for another cigarette, only to find that the pack was empty. He let out a silent curse before tossing the empty pack into the pool. "Get me another pack," he said to Alonzo before picking up the drink.
