108Becca dozed in her seat in the waiting room, the low conversations and background hums lulling her into a troubled sleep. “Becca.” She opened her eyes and blinked, for a moment unsure of her surroundings. The nurse stood before her, a smile on her face. “He's awake.” Becca jumped from her chair and followed the woman. “Is he…OK?” She said the words, fearing the worst. “Seems to be. He's responding to questions.” They hurried down the hall. At the doorway, the nurse stepped aside and allowed Becca to go through. “Just a few minutes. His parents have been notified and they're on the way. We don't want to tire him out.” Becca nodded then walked into the dimly lit room. He watched her approach.
