65Becca had slept soundly and struggled to rouse herself. Then she remembered that guests would be arriving today. Gaby had asked her to be at the dining room at eight o'clock. She sat up and felt aches in her back and legs. She'd been right. Her body hurt more today than the previous evening. Becca walked into the dining room, fixed herself a slab of home-made whole-wheat toast with honey and peanut butter—which was fast becoming her favorite—and made herself a pot of black tea. “There you are.” Gaby entered the room carrying two baskets of cut flowers. “Yesterday you made the rooms clean, and now we will make them pretty.” Becca held up the teapot. “Want some?” “I'd be delighted.” Becca retrieved a mug from the sideboard and poured another cup.
