Chapter Sixteen

A Dog Who Wants The Bone Back II “I’ll see you around then, Miss Bartel.” Tristan began taking steps backward to meet his friend, and I waved at him with a wide smile, taking a quick glance at his friend who seemed to glancing my way too. That’s a good sign. “Yep, don’t bother!” Aiden suddenly yelled causing me to glare at him in fury. “This girl doesn’t wash her hair in the morning!” D-Doesn’t wash her… “Oi, Mitchell!” I slapped the back of his head, frantically turning back to Tristan who was chuckling from a distance. “That is not true! I take three baths a day!” I shouted at him defensively. I gazed back at Aiden, frowning even deeper at the sight of his stupid face that seemed satisfied with what he did to ruin my shot with a senior who could potentially help me a lot academically. “You’re the one who’s not washing at all!” Aiden squinted his eyes at me. “I just said that so he doesn’t come back.” When I turned back to Tristan, he was already walking away with his friend, back turned against me. I frowned as I marched back inside the room to grab my bag angrily. “He’s nice! He buys me lunch. I get to save lunch money for a week if I keep him under my radar.” He hissed. “You don’t even like sandwiches.” “I like everything that’s free.” “Why don’t you like me then? I’m free.” I scoffed, looking away. Really getting better at getting back at me for the things I say to him. “Wow, that’s a big improvement, Andy. Keep up and maybe I can date you for a day so you can at least live up to your fantasies about me.” I wiggled my brows at him. “Tell me, Andy. I’ll make your dreams a reality.” “No, thanks.” Oh? So ballsy. “Ouch. You’re rejecting me when there’s a swarm of guys who’s dreaming of being on a date with me?” I clenched my shirt to show how dramatically hurt I was. “You hurt me, Andy.” He sighed, shaking his head. “A day would only feel like the number of days I’ve spent with you. I won’t prove you anything in that short amount of time, you know.” Trying to prove something, huh? “And what would you want to prove?” “That a guy is willing to put up with you through anything?” My heart melted. Aiden’s always been the romantic type. No matter how much he annoys the living s**t out of me, I still care deeply for him. “Aww, maybe if I was serious, I would be head over heels for you now.” He squeezes my cheeks together, mocking my words with an awkward face. “Now enjoy your sandwich while I go eat something nice from the cafeteria.” It was my vacant class and I was just chilling outside the building, fishing for boys to flirt with for potentially a good five minute. I can’t seem to stop my eyes every time I see good hair, good outfit, good posture, good height, good walking, good side profiles. My eyes felt like they were meant to look for men I wanted casually flirt with. A dark browned hair guy passed by in front of me and I was just a few seconds late to see his face because all I can see was his back now, walking away. He looks good from the back, I’d bet he looks even more gorgeous in the fr— “Achelois Bartel.” I froze. The sound of that voice kind of gave me goosebumps but seeming that it came from a girl, I wouldn’t flinch my soul out and be all weak. I turned around to face another legal, I guess, crossing my arms as I flipped my hair to show the woman who was more superior among us. She’s pretty… pretty. I looked down at her toe to her head – judging the s**t out of her. She was pretty beautiful. I don’t know what Ken doll I played with for this legal to come up to me like this, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be less chaotic as that psycho b***h before. Unlike the last girl, this woman looked more sophisticated. The type who wouldn’t just throw hands and let her outfit be ruined for some petty reasons. This woman looked like she would cut me with words. I am already offended and threatened. “You do know Jett and I are together, right?” Jett? That’s Snoopy, right? She crossed her arms, glaring at me and spatting at me in the most monotonous voice I’ve ever heard of. “Why can’t you just keep your hands to yourself and not snake guys who are already with someone?” I smirked at her. Too bad I knew the story between her and Jett so she can’t really throw it back at me when she was the one at fault. “Last time I checked, you’re the one who left your bone out for another dog.” She looked furious but it only made me want to provoke her more. These girls who only learn their exes’ values after seeing them happy with someone else are ridiculous. If you know what you have is precious, you wouldn’t dare let them slip out of your hands. “I pity you,” I added. “Jett’s a pretty good man. You dumped him for being too good to be true?” I scoffed, making sure she would take in everything I said to her. “Tell me why that’s my fault?” “I didn’t dump him.” She denied. “I talked to him.” She seemed fazed. She must have not expected him to tell me everything. “He told me everything he did for you which you couldn’t appreciate. I wondered why you couldn’t just keep this precious man but I realized,” I paused. “Maybe you’re the one who doesn’t deserve his love.” I saw her eyes twitch. That must have hit her hard. I mean, I’m saying the truth so I don’t have anything to be guilty of. If anything, I was just trying to defend Jett for the right reasons. “Funny how all of this is coming from you.” She suddenly blurted out. I gritted my teeth, looking away. Trying to keep my composure. What does that have to mean? “What are you trying to imply?” “Everyone knows you’re a playgirl, Achelois Bartel.” “I’m flattered that people talk about me.” I joked but she doesn’t seem to like it – expected, anyway. I liked how pissed I was making her for my responses. “It’s nice to hear people actually offer that much time to talk about me. I love it so much.” “Jett is mine.” “Jett was yours.” I cut her off. “Stop claiming him when you’re the one who threw him off like a piece of trash you can always pick back up.” I muttered firmly. “He really loved you, you know. I even know that because only a guy who cries for girls are the sincere ones.” She was taken aback. She knew I was right. “Sylvia?” I moved my eyes to the guy who just appeared at the girl’s back. “Snoopy, hey!” I greeted him casually despite standing face to face with his ex-girlfriend. “Sylvia, what are you doing—” “I was just teaching this snake a lesson.” The girl glared at me with so much hatred and defeat. Too bad, I know I’m the one who’s right this time. “A lesson not to mess with people in a relationship.” I wheezed out loud, shaking my head in disbelief. The nerve of this stupid girl. Jett stood across me, protecting me from the girl while frowning at his ex-girlfriend. I reckon he did that because he thought I was offended with what she just called me but I wasn’t. I liked that he thought that way though. Made me feel more special to him than his ex-girlfriend. “What are you teaching her that lesson for?” He asked the girl named Sylvia, and I just stood behind him with a wide smile. I was already winning and she knew that. I could see it in her eyes, how jealous she was. “She helped me cope up with the pain you’ve caused me.” “Jett, are you stupid?!” She exclaimed, unable to control the overflowing guilt and hatred she’s been feeling. “This girl just tried to snake you from me! She just acted nice to you, consoled you because she was trying to flirt with you and you obviously fell for that because you’re clueless. She blinded you from her real intentions! Are you seriously—” “Sylvia, enough!” My heart jumped at the rise of Jett’s voice. I’ve never got him mad before so I was definitely shocked to hear him scream like this. To my accord, even. What a sweetheart. Even defending me without knowing I actually tried to flirt with him but as friends, if that makes sense. “Don’t blame Lois for our failed relationship!” He yelled at her. “Don’t blame her for making me feel things you failed to make me feel!” I’m flattered, really. Flattered but guilty because I knew a part of Sylvia’s words were true. The entirety wasn’t though because I genuinely felt bad for Jett and I was really defending him because I knew how good he was – too good for anyone. “It’s all you! You did this! There’s no one to blame but you so stop pointing your finger at her.” The girl looked enraged and I’m loving it! Now this is the type of drama I want to be part of. She was so hurt that Jett was defending me instead of siding with her but can you really blame Jett for taking my side. The girl was a b***h. “She’s the one who pulled me up from drowning when you pushed me and left me to drown.” This is why I don’t date sweethearts like him.
