After that, Serena organized the Wlliams Group's documents by category and sent them along with her resignation application to HR.
Then, while recovering from her injuries, she checked the documents needed for going abroad.
That afternoon, the doorbell suddenly rang.
She opened the door, and Irene was standing there. "Serena, Raymond is still in the hospital. I wanted to ask you about his preferences so I can take better care of him."
Serena lowered her eyes, in a calm voice. "The butler knows these things better than I do. You can ask him."
Irene stepped closer. "But I heard that over the past seven years, Serena, you've been trying hard to please Raymond. You must remember his little habits and preferences better than anyone."
Before Serena could respond, Irene continued on her own, her words full of Raymond's favoritism towards her. "Raymond calls me on video every night and doesn't hang up until I fall asleep.I mentioned wanting to try a trendy cake, and he personally queued for two hours to get it for me. And when I encounter difficulties at work, he puts aside his board meetings to help me sort out plans late into the night. Besides, a few days ago, Raymond even got injured protecting me, and in the hospital, he was more worried about me."
"Serena, I used to envy you for having so much since birth, but now with Raymond, I feel all the hardships I've endured were worth it."
Serena, seeing the undisguised pride and show-off in her eyes, didn't want to say anything more and stepped aside to let her in. "Come in."
The two sat on the sofa, and Serena absentmindedly mentioned Raymond's habits.
How he liked two spoons of sugar in his coffee, disliked cilantro, had a sweet tooth...
Irene's phone suddenly rang.
Serena gestured for her to take the call, but Irene just glanced at it and silenced it.
After a while, just as Serena was about to stop, the apartment door was suddenly pushed open.
Raymond burst in with two bodyguards, his expression was frighteningly dark.
He immediately saw Irene sitting on the sofa, and when he looked at Serena, his eyes were full of hostility. Before Serena could react, he rushed over and kicked her down.
Serena's ribs, not yet healed, sent a sharp wave of pain through her. She groaned, supporting herself on the cold floor, feeling as if the wound on her chest was being torn open.
"What did you do to Irene?" Raymond shielded Irene, his tone icy. "I warned you not to touch her!"
Serena was stunned, but when she looked down, she saw bright red blood staining her white T-shirt.
"Raymond, why are you out of the hospital? Didn't the doctor say you needed a few more days of observation?"
Irene stepped forward to support Raymond, her tone full of concern, then turned to explain to him, "Don't get me wrong, I came to ask Serena about your preferences to take good care of you, nothing else."
Only then did Raymond relax, gently ruffling Irene's hair, his tone instantly softening. "Just seeing you makes me feel better. Having you by my side is the best care I could ask for."
Once he finished speaking, he turned to look at Serena on the ground, his gaze falling on the bloodstain on her chest, a flicker of concern in his eyes that was quickly masked by indifference. "Are you alright?"
Before Serena could respond, he added, as if offering an explanation. "I was just afraid you'd hurt Irene."
Serena looked at him and gave a silent smile.
After seven years of being together day and night, in his heart, was she really just a malicious woman who would hurt others?
It turned out that not loving someone can truly negate everything about them, even if she did nothing wrong, it was still a mistake.
She supported herself on the floor, slowly sitting up, her voice weak but firm. "Don't worry, Mr. Scott, I won't bother anyone anymore, and I can go to court to sign the divorce agreement in a week."
Raymond's expression froze for a moment, as if he hadn't expected her to be so calm, then he returned to his indifferent demeanor. "That's the best."
After speaking, he carefully supported Irene and turned to leave.
As they passed through the doorway, Serena clearly saw Raymond take Irene's hand and gently place a kiss on the back of it.
The care and tenderness in his eyes were something she had never received in seven years.
At that moment, the last trace of her feelings for him, like a candle flame blown out by the wind, was extinguished completely.
