I struggled in the truck, trying to break free from the thick rope used to tie me, but the rope was so tight. I prayed silently, hoping for a miracle to save me from this nightmare.
Suddenly, the truck stopped, a hefty-looking man came to my side and covered my face with a plastic bag. I was pulled and dragged somewhere, then forced into a chair.
The hefty-looking man took the plastic bag off my head. I looked around, I was inside an abandoned old warehouse.
Some men rushed inside the warehouse, “Boss is here,” one of them whispered. The hefty man nodded and removed the duct tape.
I saw two tall figures approaching, one of whom looked like a familiar figure. As they moved closer, I froze. “Uncle, why are you doing this to me?” I shouted.
My uncle stepped closer, and he smirked
“Where are my documents?” He growled, pulling my hair up.
I looked up at him with an innocent expression, “I don’t know what you are talking about” I said
The other man grabbed my cheeks, his voice as cold as ice. “Mara, you’re gonna die either way. Might as well talk now”
The man’s phone rang, and he pulled it out of his pocket. “Ok, ok, yes” he said, he hung up and put the phone back in his pocket.
“Mr Adam Smith, you should leave now. I’ll handle her and update you when she talks.”
My uncle looked confused. “What’s happening?” He asked.
“I’ve got a deal with Jason Walker. He’s almost here with his men and I don’t want any screw ups. About Mara, she’ll be locked in the storeroom . We’ll take care of her case after the deal.” The man explained.
“Jeff, I want a clean job. Make sure she tells you about the documents” My uncle said, his expression cold and cruel.
My eyes were wide in shock, “Jason Walker, isn’t he one of the most ruthless and dangerous mafia lords in town? And what documents is my uncle talking about? I don’t even know where that is.” I shook violently, trying so hard to break free
“Untie me now please! This is illegal” I shouted
My uncle came closer and patted my head. “Be a good girl Mara, they will treat you well.” He laughed and turned to leave.
Jeff told his men to drag me into a dark room, with my hands still tied. One of the men taped my mouth again so I could not speak.
A few minutes later, I heard the sound of cars opening and closing and people walking in unison, murmurs of men talking. I pressed my ear against the wall, trying to catch every word.
I heard Jeff’s voice, “It’s all there, now let’s check the cars” he requested
“Go ahead” a deep voice answered. I could sense the power in his voice.
“That should be the almighty Jason Walker” I thought to myself.
Just as I was thinking, I heard loud gunshots that almost made my heart explode. I froze, my heart pounding so fast from the gunshot. Then I heard a scream from a familiar voice.
“You can't outsmart me, I am Jeff El jefe” I heard Jeff yell in pain.
“You tried to play Jason's game, Friend, you lost. This was supposed to be a clean deal, Jeff ”. The deep voice said, his voice is colder and deeper this time.
“I didn’t cheat you, Jason. It’s the best deal you’ll get” I heard Jeff stammered
A slap echoed through the hall.
“Drag him into the car and let’s get out of here ” The thick voice ordered.
At that moment, I realized this was my only chance. I started banging my head against the door of the storeroom, shouting through the tape, trying to make a noise. Thump Thump Thump, my head spinning with each bang.
Suddenly, the door burst open and a man with tattoos all over his face came in, almost blinding me with the flashlight in his hand.
I squinted my eyes, raising my arm to shield my hurting eyes
“We’ve got a girl here” the tattooed man called out. The deep voice from earlier barked, “Get her out and bring her here!”
The tattoo faced man yanked me up and pulled me out of the storeroom. Then I saw him, the almighty Jason Walker, gazing at me coldly. His foot stepped on Jeff’s wounded body.
“Untie her” he commanded
The tattoo-faced man cut the rope binding me with a sharp knife and ripped off the tape used to cover my mouth. I gasped for air.
“Help, please” I said, my voice cracking. My knee buckled and I crumpled down to the ground and everything went dark.

I woke up, my heart racing. I scanned the unfamiliar room. Everything felt strange. I jumped up in fear,
“Where am I again” I thought, my head spinning hard.
Just as I was looking around, an elderly woman came in holding a tray of food. As she saw me sitting on the bed she smiled,
“Oh, you are awake” she said softly.
“What is going on? Who are you? Where am I?” I asked.
“Calm down” she said smiling, “I am Cecilia, one of the maids here, you are in the Walkers’ mansion.”
I froze, my eyes widened in shock, “The Walker’s mansion?” I muttered to myself
Then the memory of what happened the previous night flooded in. “Did I just go from frying pan to fire?” I thought, my heart raced.
