Key

1658 Words
Key had another night of restlessness. That was how it had been for the last 4 years. He was now 23 and he had been laying low for the last few years. All he did was work and come home. He had stashed the money and he was sure that no one was looking for him. After Cole and Cody's bodies were dropped he never looked back, checked back, or anything like that. He told himself with a new start all the past had to be erased. "Fuckkk..." He dragged as he got out of bed. His tall chocolate frame stretched out as he stood up. Key learned a long time ago from his older brother that sometimes you have to not look back. Key spent years feeling guilty but he had made his choice and would live with the burden of his decision. He was going to go to work today but decided against it. He figured he wasn't going to go back. All the money he had been getting paid was going to savings after he rented a house. It was a three-bedroom home in a quiet neighborhood that was out of the way. Key moved to Ohio thinking it was a place where no one would run into him until he figured out what was next. Of course, he had money but he didn't even flip it. So with time and no investments he knew the money wouldn't go far but he couldn't go back to his old way. He told himself he would never go back or so he argued. Key had just been stacking his checks while still sitting on money, there wasn't as much when he first arrived but still sitting on money. It was blood money. Not only did he betray the only person he could trust the most in this world but he betrayed himself. "A new day a new me." He said to himself. Key stripped down. His body had been marked up by tattoos long ago and over the years all he had done was add to them. He made his way to the shower and let the water finally wash away his past. Today was going to be a new day in his new life he said as if the last 4 years were nonexistent. After drying off and getting dressed he told himself it was time to go shopping. Key put on a simple white tee and some joggers so he could he to the mall and do some shopping. He did notice that his clothes were pretty basic. That was simply because he did not want to cause himself any attention. Key decided today would change. He brushed his hair down before he once more took a look in the mirror before leaving. He headed out to his front door, looked up, and got in his car. Key pulled up to the mall and noticed there were many beautiful women out. He parked his charger and couldn't help but notice the glances. He was definitely a newbie in unknown territory. Key made his way to the entrance as he opened the door he was rushed by a woman. "Damien you get on my fuckin nerves-" The woman started. She hadn't even bothered looking at him as grabbed his hand and pulled him as he yanked away. The short curvy woman turned around looking up at Key. First, she looked mad then disappointed, and finally embarrassed. "I am so sorry. I thought-" She started before Key waved her off. "You good." He said as he looked at her. She was a pretty girl. The young woman was light-skinned with a nice shape. Looking at her she looked like she could be a few years older than him but she was appealing, to say the least. She rushed off embarrassed before he even got the chance to ask her name. Key looked to see her rushing to the other side of the mall and not even looking back. She was his type but told himself to leave it alone Key made his way through the mall shopping to renew his newfound self. He got a lot of casual wear and a few suits. He had never gotten suits before but after a few hours of getting measurements and alteraterations he was heading home with some custom-made ones. Just as he was about to leave he crossed paths with the same young woman as earlier as she immediately turned red and looked the other way trying to exit. "It's not that serious." He said to her as she finally looked at him. Her face looked as if she was a dear caught in headlights. "I'm kinda embarrassed." She admitted. "I'm still sorry." She said once more as he nodded. "I thought you were my old roommate." She explained. "I'm sure we would have been much more than roommates." He said licking his lips. As he did a young man approached them. "Hey bittccchh." Damien said catching Key completely off guard. He pulled the woman in for a hug. "Damien?" He chuckled. He looked at him they looked alike but had two vastly different styles between them. Damien was obviously gay with a crop top and shorts on. "Can I help you?" He said looking at Key as the unnamed woman stepped between them. "I am so sorry, again." She said embarrassed "What's your name?" Key asked. The more embarrassed she was the more he seemed to find himself wanting her. Physically she was his type but her timid nature was nothing he was used to. He within minutes found it appealing. She was the type to shy away and how she looked he was surprised. "Her name is Brooke." Damien said pushing her forward with a smile. "Go." He whispered to her. "Yeah again sorry." She looked away as Key smirked. "Well, Brooke like I said it's not that serious." He smiled at her. And as usual, he could tell his smile made her return hers. "My name's Key- Keshawn." He said said to her. He normally didn't give anyone his government but it was the new better version of his self he thought. "Oh okay." She said looking away. "You know Brooke for as fine as you are I wouldn't expect you to be so shy." He said and she smiled. "I'm not shy." She said softly and Damien walked off leaving the two of them to talk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Yo lil ass don't even know what you doin." Key said to the young man in front of him He was about 16 when they met and he was still trying to figure out how to sell weed. Key met him when first moved into town looking for a connection. The young man had some fire and Key frequently stopped by even when he moved out of his apartment and got a house. He may not have been loyal to everything but he was a loyal customer. He looked at him now and he was bagging up dope. "I'ma figure it out and make hella money." He said and Key shook his head. He had hoped he had stuck with weed as a side hustle but even he knew that the streets somehow always found their appeal. "Yo ass was supposed to be in school." Key said looking at the different jars of weed on the counter. "I am takin a lil break. My momma need help and then my sister." He said as Key nodded. The young boy was practically the only friend that he really had. Key told himself he wasn't built for friends but he did notice the young man needing guidance. "Come on that s**t sound like a copout but I'ma leave it be cause you grown." Key said as Con looked at him. His real name was Conner but when he met Key he gave him the nickname 'Con.' Similar to how he gave Cole and Cody their nicknames. Conner actually looked like he could be Key's younger brother. Con was chocolate with dreads and stood about 5'10. He had a slim frame but with him being more active he started to fill and tone out. They two held no relation but the hunger in him reminded Key of himself when he was younger. "Yea OG ain't nobody got time for no lectures." He said as continued to smoke the blunt in his hands. "Ight lil nigga gimme my s**t so I can go." Key said. "Well before you go lemme ask-" Con started. "Nope cause you ain't got time for a lecture and I ain't got time for advice." Key said as he hit the blunt once more before passing it to him. "What type of OG don't help his lil nigga?" Con sucked his teeth. "Iono got no lil niggas' No body jus me." Key said as Conner brushed him off. "Anyway lemme ask you sumin. I'm not sayin I got it but what would you-" He started and Key stopped him. "Lil nigga no." He said as Con sighed. Key knew the type of trouble he was headed into but wasn't sure if he should stop it. Nature was inevitable to run its course he knew that in the game he was about to enter only the strong would survive. "Fa real OG I just wanna run sum number by you. You tha only person I trust." He said and Key felt a sense of nostalgia. "You trust me?" He said squinting his eyes. "Hell ya. Jus like you trust me that I ain't gon short you or sell you no huff." Con said as he nodded. "Fine lil nigga, ask away." Key said finally willing to hear him out. If you like this Please Vote, Comment or share.
