4 years ago.... "Cody please hold on." Cole said as he held his twin's lifeless body in his arms. He already was dead but he held him as the warm blood leaked out of him with no end. No matter how hard he pressed it poured out of his chest The two although identical they were like day and night. Cole was in all black while Cody just so happened to be in all white. What was once all white was now painted red. Cody and Cole, we're only 18 but stood about 6ft tall with caramel skin and a slightly muscular build. They looked a lot like their father with their strong jawlines and big lips, the only trait they had gotten from their mother was her big brown honey eyes. "Cody?" Cole called out to his unresponsive brother. "Co?" He said with tears coming down his face as he shook him. "We have to go." Key, his right hand said as he held his brother. Key was as chocolate as the night was black. He was about the same size as his best friend and build. The two had been through so much already and tonight was showing them that this was nothing different in this cold world. Cole shook his head refusing to leave his brother there with the other bodies that surrounded them. Outside of his brother and Key, there were 12 bodies that were dispersed around the room. Cole and Key had gunned down the entire room not knowing that Cody was among them. "Pick up his feet." Cole said to Key refusing to leave his brother. "We don't have time-" Key started as he looked at the bags of money and dope. "I don't give a f**k. Pick up his fuckin feet." Cole said as Key reluctantly rushed and grabbed his dead brother's feet. Sirens were going off and he knew they had to be quick, they both did. Cole carried his brother with the help of Key as they put his body in the trunk. "Man, we ain't got time." Key said as Cole shot him a look. "Make time." He said before they put his brother's body in the trunk and went back in and grabbed four of the duffel bags as Key rushed behind him grabbing the remaining three. They rushed quickly tossing the bags in the back before they both climbed into the car and took off. The sirens were fleeing past them as they made their way down the street going the opposite way. "What the f**k?" Cole said not able to wrap himself around his brother's death but the fact he was with people he would never hang out with. His brother was the complete opposite of him. Cody was a goody two-shoes. Of course, he grew up in the same streets as his brother but he took the straight and narrow path. Cole may have been a thug but Cody was a valedictorian. He was the smart one, the one with dreams and goals. He was not like his brother and preferred to remain out of the streets. He was fine with it, Cole would run the streets but Cody was going to be out of them. He was going to be better than that. Even Cole knew it; His brother, Cody was going to go to college not run the streets. Cole let out a deep breath as he continued to drive calmly to their stash house. Key kept glancing at him. "Nigga stop fuckin looking at me." Cole told him irritated. Cole was still trying to figure out how the hell Cody got there. Wrapping his mind around the thought that he was riding with his dead brother in his trunk was too much. Cody was literally everything to Cole, even with them being at odds. He was the only person who never judged him. The only person who trusted him fully and vice versa. Cole couldn't even imagine telling their father that nearly a year after losing their mother that his brother was gone, he couldn't. Their father Clay would never be able to accept it. Cole was sure he would drink even more if it was possible at all. Clay really had become a functioning alcoholic and his children had watched the strong man he once turned into a mirroring shell of an empty man after the death of their mother. Without their mother, they had all shifted. Cody had been the only one who remained true to his dreams and grounded. Cole on the other hand took to the streets. He hung out with Key all the time and did whatever he could to not only avoid the pain but to avoid life; that included school, the rest of his family, and whatever else. "Why the f**k was he there?" Cole said out loud trying to figure it out. "Man, what the hell?" Key said as he looked out the window seeing Cole swerve. "Cody." Cole said his brother's name in disbelief. Key could tell he was having a hard time accepting what they both knew to be a fact. Cody was dead, they had just robbed Mazes and they would be 50k richer each. That money came at a cost and Cole was clueless as to what it would be. He didn't know it would be as invaluable as his brother's life. Cole planned on paying for Cody's school with half of his money and with the rest he planned on getting a place. Living with their father was stagnant and now he was just in his thoughts and lost as they drove across town. Cody was gone. Cole couldn't help but drop a few tears as he drove. His brother was in the trunk of his car and he was sure his and his best friend's hail of bullets was responsible. "You didn't know." Key said to him as he drove. That didn't matter to Cole. Key could only imagine how he felt especially with them being as close as they were. The rest of the ride was completely silent until they pulled up to their trap. Cole was going to head for his house but he couldn't just drop his brother's dead body off. "We can count this money and leave." He said as they sat in the alley for a brief moment. Key nodded before they both got out of the car. Instead of going for the back seat Cole headed for the trunk. He knew he shouldn't but he couldn't help but do it. He opened the trunk to look down at his mirrored image. The good version of him, the best part of him now gone. Cole looked at his twin as his heart sank. He grabbed his chain off of him and put it on. It was the last thing he had gifted him and he would wear it religiously. He was his brother's keeper and apparently killer he thought as he looked down at his bloody body. 'Click'. Cole turned to see Key holding up a gun to his head. "I'm sorry bro." Key said as Cole let out a sigh. It was exactly then realized it was too late and that it was all a setup. "Keyshun tell me you playin." He said feeling the barrel of the gun in his head as Key slowly moved it back. "Cody or Cole?" Key said as Cole stood confused. "Cody or Cole?" He said once more as he pushed the gun to Cole's temple. Key let out a deep sigh. "Why man?" Cole asked. It was the only thing that mattered. "You yo brother's keeper and he was yours." Key said as Cole tried to turn and he pressed metal against his head. "You killed my brother?" He asked and the hurt was visible. "We." Key said correcting him. "I know it was his lil funny ass when he showed up pretending to be you." Key said shaking his head. Cole did the same. His brother was probably trying to get him out of whatever and instead got wrapped into he thought. Instead Key led him straight to the slaughterhouse. "I thought we were brothers?" Cole said and Key nodded. "Was." He said pulling the trigger and Cole's body fell onto Cody's body. Key looked at his friend once before he quickly went to the backseat, took all the duffel bags out of Cole's car and put it into his car that was parked right next to theirs.
