Evangeline carefully put the side dish into the lower oven. She had just finished making the chicken broth.
Back in the valley, her mother had taught her how to cook with simple ingredients to cure a bad stomach. It was easy for her to make the food once she figured out how the kitchen machines worked.
She looked at the digital clock on the wall. It was already past eight at night.
Evangeline decided to clean the kitchen while she waited. She did not want the older housekeeper to get angry with her on her very first night living here.
Suddenly, she heard the heavy front door open and close.
Her heart beat fast. She hoped it was the housekeeper coming back to check on her work. Evangeline wiped her hands on her apron and ran toward the kitchen door to see who it was.
She turned the corner too fast.
Before she could even see the big shadow in front of her, she crashed straight into a solid wall of muscle. Her full breasts smashed right into his hard chest.
She gasped and bounced backward, but two huge, heavy hands instantly grabbed her waist to stop her from falling.

Kylian stood in the kitchen doorway. He had already taken off his suit jacket. After coming home alone after a long day of work, he was exhausted and starving. He had walked toward the kitchen to check on his food, but he did not expect the new cook girl to run straight into him.
His big hands held onto her small waist. His fingers pressed deep into the cloth right above her big, round hips. Up close, she looked completely different from the ewomen he knew.
Her skin was glowing, her lips were open in shock, and her blue eyes looked up at him with innocence.
Instead of the expensive, strong perfumes of the city, a soft scent of thyme came off her skin. It hit him instantly, clearing the heavy fog in his brain.
Evangeline pulled away quickly. Her face turned bright red as his hands slowly let go of her waist. She had never been touched by a man before. He was too big, too strong, and his presence made her uncomfortable.
"Is the dinner ready?" Kylian asked. His voice was a deep, gravelly rumble in the quiet kitchen.
"Good evening, sir," she whispered. Her voice shook as she backed away until her hips hit the kitchen counter. “Yes it is.” Kylian listened to her voice. It was soft, pure, and completely free of the fake flattery he heard from his people all day.
She wasn't trying to impress him; she was just trying to do her job. Still, his eyes moved down, noting how her loose dress couldn't fully hide the lush curves of her figure underneath the plain cloth.
"Where is the food?"
"On the counter. Should I serve it, sir?"
The permanent, sharp ache in his stomach, which usually burned like fire by this hour, felt strangely calm just from breathing in the steam from her pots.
"Serve it to me right away." Kylian said, pulling out a high chair.
Evangeline moved fast to obey him. Her hands shook slightly as she reached up to get a plate from the top cabinet. Kylian rested his chin on his fist, watching her move around his kitchen. Her simple clothes and white bonnet looked completely out of place, yet she moved with a confidence that fascinated him.
She turned back to the counter, bending over slightly to put the chicken and vegetables on the plate. The movement made her skirt stretch tight across her rounded ass. Kylian stared directly at her curves, his jaw clenching hard. He grabbed his glass of water tightly just to hold onto something.
She slid the plate toward him carefully, too shy to meet his dark eyes. "Please eat it while it is hot, Mr. Moreno. It is good for the lining of your stomach."
Kylian picked up his fork. He took a bite of the chicken, then the smooth vegetable purée.
It was perfect. As he swallowed, the tight, painful knot in his ribs completely loosened. For the first time in months, the burning in his chest stopped entirely. He reached for another bite immediately. It wasn't just the physical attraction distracting him anymore, this girl had actually brought him relief.
"You cook well, girl."
"Thank you, sir," she whispered. She stepped back toward the sink to put distance between them, picking up a pot to wash.
Kylian ate everything in silence. He kept his eyes on his plate, but his gaze kept drifting back to the sink. He watched the rhythm of her movements, the way she handled his things, and the thick shape of her hips bending over the basin. She had completely invaded his private space, and he hated how much he liked it.
He pushed the empty plate away and stood up, his massive shadow covering her body for a second. He did not say another word, just turned around and walked out of the kitchen.
Upstairs, in his bedroom, Kylian threw his phone onto the mattress and ripped his shirt open, cursing under his breath.
His pants felt dangerously tight, his d**k fully hard and throbbing against the zipper. He closed his eyes, but he couldn't block her out. His mind was flooded with the scent of her herbs, the shock in her blue eyes, and the memory of her soft breasts smashing against his chest.
He gripped the edge of the window frame, his veins popping against his skin as he stood alone in the dark, completely ruined by the thought of the innocent girl downstairs.
