Fated Mates

Jensen's parents approached him as he was enjoying watching the flames in golf all that was once a part of Lisa. "We've been trying to reach you for the past hour. Have you been here the whole time?" his father, Max, asked. "Yes, Dad. I put up a block so Roman and I could talk in peace while we enjoyed erasing every last bit of Lisa from our lives." What are you doing out here ? Why did you start that fire in the dumpster Francine asked curiously. Just erasing my past is all if you get what I’m saying, Jensen raised an eyebrow as he raised the beer bottle to his lips, taking a swig, then looking towards his parents. Max nodded, "Your mother and I have news. Luna Jayla and her sister Janis have managed to stabilize Chase. He should be back to normal by tomorrow. Janis, being a doctor for the Steller pack, will stay here to observe Chase overnight, while Luna Jayla will return home." "That's great news," Jensen said, relieved. "Even better, Alpha Sam and Parker have decided to banish Lisa and her mate to Oscar's mother's former pack for what Lisa did to her own pup." Jensen frowned, "She committed a crime here. Why aren't they sending her back to us?" "Oscar pleaded with his Alpha for banishment instead. Alpha Sam had no choice but to consult your brother, who said if they returned here, my wrath would be the least of her worries for the harm she caused our grandson," Max explained. Francine smiled, imagining the justice she would have enacted on Lisa for endangering her grandchild. After a heartfelt hug, Jensen's parents bid him goodbye and walked towards their secluded cottage in the woods.t After tidying up the clutter behind the pack house, Jensen finally heeded Lance's advice. He chose to temporarily depart from the pack to clear his mind. Craving solitude, he yearned for a run in his true form. Transforming into his large, black wolf form, Roman, Jensen headed into the dense forests of their territory. He sprinted across the landscape for hours, reveling in the untouched wilderness of Missouri. Suddenly, a scent of lavender and vanilla halted Roman in his tracks. Overwhelmed with excitement, he thought, "Mate! Mate! I can smell her, feel her nearby!" Roman's joy was palpable. Jensen was hit with the realization that they had stumbled upon their destined mate. Overflowing with excitement and anticipation, he was also aware of Roman's mounting excitement, tinged with desire, and hoped Roman would maintain control until they calmly met their mate. This realization came as a shock to Jensen, especially considering his recent upheaval with Lisa. "I can't believe it, Roman," Jensen exclaimed in disbelief. "It's a blessing we didn't mark Lisa, for our true mate, blessed by the goddess herself, is out there," Roman responded with conviction. Through Roman's eyes, Jensen spotted three young girls gathered around a campfire, seemingly in their teens. However, Jensen's initial thrill soured into frustration upon realizing the girl was human. He vehemently refused to accept her, causing an internal clash with Roman. Frustrated and feeling betrayed by the Moon Goddess he shifted making Roman retreat into the recesses of his mind, Jensen, now vulnerable and without clothes, concealed himself in the bushes. Using his enhanced wolf hearing, he eavesdropped on the girls' conversation. The girl named Crystal, seemingly aware of an unseen presence, wasn't frightened. Instead, she calmly told her friends, Jenny and Kay, "Hey girls, I think I'm going to head to bed and get an early start in the morning." Her voice carried a serene confidence that intrigued Jensen even in his state of turmoil. As she stepped inside her tent, zipping it up. "Don't be such a square. Join us," she urged, settling onto a log near a cooler. Swiftly, Kay opened the cooler, her eyes lighting up. "Check this out. Swiped it from my dad's bat—uh, I mean his employee's office. He'll never miss it," she boasted, revealing a half-full bottle of Everclear. Uncapping it, she took a daring gulp, coughing slightly from the sharp burn in her throat. Jenny shot Kay a wary look. "We better not get caught with that," she warned, but Kay was undeterred. "No one's going to notice it's missing," Kay reassured her confidently. "Please, if this were from your mom's office, she'd spot it missing in a heartbeat. We'd never hear the end of it," Jenny countered. "Mom's too tied up. She needed your mom's help with something at the Baileys'. They rushed over to assist with their grandson," Kay explained, passing the bottle to Jenny, who took a generous swig herself. Crystal emerged from the tent, taking in the scene of her friends starting to feel the effects of the alcohol. "No thanks. I'd rather not wake up with a monumental hangover," she declined. "Your loss," Kay retorted. "Hey, we should invite Gary and Wayne over. They're always a laugh. Maybe they'll bring a friend for you, Crystal. Loosen up, ditch the books for once and have some fun." "Not interested. Those guys are jerks, and while you might enjoy this wild lifestyle, it's not for me," Crystal retorted, disappearing back into the tent. "She can be such a geek sometimes," Kay sighed, taking another drink of Everclear, the two giggling over their playful teasing. "That girl is a total nerd. Not my type at all, and that's saying something since she's human," Jensen murmured to his wolf companion. "You're overlooking a gift, but fine, ignore it. I'll do the same," Roman, the wolf, responded wryly. Suddenly, Jensen's movement caused the bushes to rustle, halting Jenny and Kay mid-conversation. "Did you hear that?" Jenny whispered. "Sure did. Remember, we're in the territory of some majestic wolves. We're guests in their home," Kay said as she winked at Jenny .the night around them alive with the mystery and magic of the wilderness. Yeah” obviously , now you’re acting like Crystal , don’t be such a nerd seriously” Jenny replied. Trapped amidst the underbrush, Jensen resorted to establishing a mind link with Lance. However, his attempts faltered as he realized his wolf was seriously incapacitated, making mind linking impossible. Patiently, he bided his time until the girls were lulled into a deep sleep by the campfire's warmth. It was only after ensuring they were completely unconscious that Jensen, in his unadorned state, crept towards them with a singular goal. He swiftly retrieved the phone that he had noticed Jenny casually placing beside her. With a sense of urgency, he dialed Lance's number, fervently hoping for a quick response. Lance's voice, laced with caution, broke the silence after the third ring. "Hello? Who is this?" he inquired. "It's Jensen. I can't use the mind link right now. Can you let my brother know I won't make it home tonight? I swear I'm not up to anything questionable. I'll be back by Sunday morning," Jensen explained. "Alright, no worries. Where are you?" Lance probed, his tone shifting to one of concern. "Just in the woods, not too far from the compound," Jensen replied, trying to keep his explanation brief. "And whose number is this?" Lance's curiosity was evident. "It's... a friend's. Listen, I really have to go. I'll catch up with you tomorrow, okay? Bye," Jensen hurriedly concluded, eager to end the conversation. Gently placing the phone back beside Jenny, he discreetly kicked some dirt onto the fire, dimming its glow, before retreating back into the shelter of the bushes. As the night deepened, Jensen's attention was drawn towards Crystal's tent. Despite her being human, something about her intrigued him deeply, stirring a desire to learn more about her. This curiosity, though unexpected, was a complex emotions swirling within him thanks to the mate bond he shared with her. "Jensen, I sense there's something unusual about her friends. It feels like their true nature is being concealed, possibly by one of them who might be a witch. They might not even be human," Roman informed Jensen. "It has to be the meteor shower. These events always amplify magical phenomena, more so than even planetary alignments or full moons," Jensen replied. "I don't know, but of all days to stumble upon them... There's something compelling me to protect her, and it's not just the mate bond," Roman responded. "And you're sure it's not just because you think they're witches? She's young, Roman," Jensen countered. "Mom is twelve years younger than Dad. There's nothing wrong with that, Jensen. You're just looking for excuses," Roman replied. "I understand the bond, and I understand you," Jensen replied. "You can tell her the truth about us when you turn her. Just don't give me up I happen to like being your wolf sometimes anyways," Roman said. "I don't want to lose you ," Jensen replied. "Then why aren't we turning around and going back home?" Roman asked. "Because I'm intrigued. Despite fighting this bond, I still want to know her," Jensen said, making himself more comfortable in the thick, heavy bush as he watched the girls camp in front of him. "You're not very stealthy, you know," Roman remarked as Jensen broke a twig, causing Crystal to glance in their direction. She knew they were too well-hidden to be seen, thanks to the shadows cast over the bush. Jenny set her Everclear down and looked over at Kay. "What are you staring at?" she asked. Kay leaned forward from the log, her gaze shifting toward Crystal. "This is Blood Moon Territory. I know we're safe," Kay replied. "Maybe we should be careful since some pack members don't take too kindly to rogues or humans," Jenny suggested. "We don’t have to worry about that since we’re neither," Kay said. "Let’s just get this over with. Whether it’s a full moon, planets aligning, or a meteor shower, werewolves, werebears, or fae get pretty frisky around this time," Jenny said. "I don’t want to witness any of that. We just need to get this assignment done and turn it in on Monday morning." "If some big, hot, Greek-looking guy comes along, I wouldn’t mind having a little fun—even if he brought a friend. A little manwich? Yum! I’ll come as I get me some," Jenny added, wiggling her eyebrows. "Girl, you’re nasty," Kay laughed, tossing her empty beer bottle toward Jenny. They both started giggling. "I’m not a virgin, but I don’t want to watch others go at it, that’s for sure," Jenny replied. "Yeah, you and Gary hooked up last week, didn’t you?" Kay asked. "Yep, and his small PP was not satisfying at all," i’m pretty sure my hymen still intact Jenny giggled, holding her fingers an inch apart. Kay pointed at Crystal. "Why not? I’m not really interested either, but that girl right there..." "She might end up becoming a nun because you know they don’t get none," Jenny joked. "That’s mean and lame," Kay said, shaking her head, though she couldn’t help but laugh. "Just because you’ve got a little action doesn’t mean everyone else isn’t waiting for their mates or until they’re married," Kay replied. "Well, that’s up to you, but I like having my fun," Jenny replied. Just then, there was another rustle in the bushes. "No, the Blood Moon warriors are probably watching us, so we better be on our best behavior and clean up our trash in the morning," Kay said with a comical tone, lightening the tension. Look how Crystal just lost her home little world sometimes I envy her. Mom doesn’t want her to know the truth about her aunt and we rent treats her but someday Crystal‘s gonna come to the realization and she’s gonna see the truth. Question is she still gonna be our friends after she learns it Says she watches Crystal and the distance getting ready for bed, taking off her shoes and setting them outside the tent. We only know when it happens till then I’ll just keep watching over her until she leaves for college anyway in a few years K replied as she stretched, cracking her bones and getting more comfortable in her, sitting position against the log jenn messed with the fire pit, tossing more sticks into it.
