“Are you planning a life with Emily once you graduate from dental school?”
I took a moment to digest the question. “I don’t know, Dad. Emily and I are just renewing our acquaintance after being separated for four years. She’s a lovely young woman. If and when I decide to take a wife, she would make a good choice.” My father agreed. He said that Emily reminded him of my mother. I did not see any resemblance, but to pacify him, I agreed. After a while Emily and Laura joined us. We sat and talked for about an hour. Eventually, we decided to say our goodbyes. Emily and I praised Laura for a wonderful dinner. I told my father I looked forward to seeing him on Wednesday. We all kissed and hugged. Once again, feeling Laura close to me gave me another adrenalin rush. Emily and I left.
