She held her breath as she heard the crunching sounds. He seemed like he was in pain. And then it was over. In front of her was a wolf. He was huge. And beautiful. He had the same Emerald green eyes. His fur looked like silk and she couldn’t stop herself from slowly reaching over to him. She moved closer to the wolf. Her had shaking slightly. She heard a soft whimper and Dom's nose came forward and nuzzled her hand. She slid it up across his cheek and behind his ear. She gave him a scratch before continuing her journey across his broad shoulders and back. He was so soft. She couldn’t help but move right next to his body and continue petting. Soon both hands were running through his fur. Stroking, scratching. The wolf’s head turned and licked her cheek. “Dom. Ugh.” She laughed as she wiped the saliva from her face. She turned back and started scratching like crazy. He rolled over onto his back and she petted him belly. She was curious if he would do that leg thing that dog's do. As she scratched, she watched as his leg started twitching. “who’s a good boy? “ she cooed. He quickly rolled away and gave a huff and he transformed back into his human form. She squealed and covered her eyes as his naked body was revealed. He quickly put his clothes on and sat back down in front of her., pulling her hands from her eyes. The look on his face let her know he was not impressed with her comment. She bit her bottom lip as she realised she probably went a little far. “sorry".

Dom

He was a little grumpy about her teasing him like he was a pet dog, but was distracted quite quickly when she bit her lip. Yeah, he would forgive her for anything. He realised. He shook his head. “the reason I am telling you this is because you are my mate. So, a long time ago, we were all beings that were one. We had 2 heads and 4 legs. Watched over by the moon goddess. However, one day a dark god became jealous of the love the moon goddess had for us. He wanted her for himself. So he sent lightning to scare us away. As the goddess came forth to protect us, the lightning struck our bodies, splitting them in 2. So each person now had 1 head, 2 legs and half a soul. The force of the strikes blew us away from each other. The goddess was not strong enough to join us back together, so she gave us our wolves. A way for us to sense the other half of our souls. Our mate. The one that we are meant to be with so we can be complete and find balance.

Once we turn 16, our wolves final sense awakens and we can find our mate. It’s a smell, a pull and a feeling. It’s very rare for a mate to be a human. But you are mine. This morning as you were walking past me, I knew. You were the one. “

“but you don’t even know me".

“ I know you are smart, honest, passionate and the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. You truly were made for me.”

Maddy looked into Dom's eyes. He seemed so sure. As if every world was written in stone. The complete truth. He had no doubts about me and he actually liked how I looked. This was a new experience for me. I had always felt that I was out of place. And even though I had my brother, I was lonely. I always felt like something was missing. Was that feeling from a part of me waiting for him? I felt insecure and ashamed. I might not be the smartest or most beautiful woman. But I didn’t believe that I needed a man to complete me. I wasn’t waiting to be rescued by a Prince on a white horse. I thought that by finding something I was passionate about and achieving things that I could fill that hole myself. But maybe it was more than that. Maybe it was about finding my place in the world. Maybe I could be the strong woman I wanted to be and have a fairy tale love. He had said that mates bring balance. Maybe that meant I have something special that only I could offer.

“ I don’t know if what I am feeling is love. I don’t have that sure belief that you do. But I know that when I am with you, I feel something that I have never felt before. Something I didn’t think was possible to feel. You make me feel safe, and warm. You make my skin tingle and my I just...... I want to be with you. I don’t know about this mate thing. But I do know that right now, I want to be with you.”

Dom

“ok. I can accept that, but just know that I want you. Now and always.” A part of him felt worried that because she wasn’t a wolf, that she might decide she didn’t want to be with him. But he was sure that based on what she said she felt, he could convince her to be with him forever.

“you should meet my parents. Come on.” He jumped up, leaned over and pulled her up to her feet. They started walking to the car. He bundled her into the car and started driving home. He gave a quick glance over and saw her cute, confused face.

What is happening? The car pulled to a stop in front of a beautiful 2 story home. It felt like it was a part of the landscape. As she looked around, she saw other homes that had the same feeling. As if these houses belonged near the woods. A sense of balance and warmth radiated out from the area. As she glanced to the side, she noticed a few people here and there looking over, whispering to each other. She heard a bang and the front door burst open. A stunning woman with Dom's green eyes and a handsome man with his bright smile came out and stopped in front of them.

The woman stared at her with a big grin and tears in her eyes. “ I am so glad to meet you" she said as she pulled her into her arms. Maddy was even more confused, if that was even possible. “Dom.....”

“mom, give a minute to adjust please.” Dom requested as he gave His mother’s arm a tug. “sorry" she said as she pulled away. “I was just so excited to meet your mate. You met her so quickly. It’s just so wonderful.” She clasped her hands together and gave a happy squeal. The man wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. Kissing her cheek then turning to Maddy.

“Hi. I am Bael and this is my wife, Sky. We are Dominick's parents.”

Bael was radiating this energy. As if the world was his to command. I couldn’t help myself. “Alpha". They all looked at me with surprise.

“how did you know? Did Dom tell you?”

She shook her head. “no, I just.... It just came out. Wait, does that mean you are the pack leader? Like a king or something?”

“Or something" he chuckled. He looked at his wife she seems to be interesting. Sky nodded, then turned to the 2 teens. “why don’t you come inside?”

After talking for a while, Dom gave Maddy a tour of the house. The last place he brought her was his bedroom. As she glanced around, he came up behind her. Wrapping his arms around her waist. Pulling her softness against his hard, muscular body. She tensed for a moment, concerned that he would feel how pudgy she was a retract in disgust. But as she felt something firm against her backside, she blushed and realised that was not a problem. He was very much not repulsed by her body. The burst of confidence that gave her had her sliding her body against his slightly, testing his reaction. He growled into her hair and whispered, “you wither need to stop or do that a lot more sweetheart.” She turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck. “so, what’s next for us?”

He brushed her hair to the side and slide his hand down till it rested on her collarbone. “when your ready, I will place my mark here. I guess you would say it’s like a werewolf version of a wedding ring. Once you have my mark, our bond will be complete.”

“I’m not ready for that yet. “

He smiled sadly. “I know. But hopefully you will be soon. I should take you home.”

Maddy was lost in her thoughts for the drive back. He gave her a swift kiss goodbye and she watched him drive away. He mind was whirling as she went inside. Michael wasn’t home yet, so went up to her room and pulled out her laptop. When in doubt. Google. She spent the next w hours researching all about werewolves. Most of the info she found were horror stories and fan fiction. But there were a few bits here and there that she felt gave her some clarity.

After she closed the computer, she thought about what she had read and experience. And more importantly, felt. She didn’t think she would be able to make such an important decision so easily. But it was like she knew. She had never felt so certain of anything in her life. And after she decided, the wave of calm that hit her further convinced her she was making the right choice. She had spent so much of her life hiding away. Doubting herself and letting other people tell her what she was worth. Michael had always told her she was smart and beautiful. But he was her brother, so she never really listened. But now, she felt good about herself. She looked at herself in the mirror and really looked. Her hair was shiny and her skin was pretty good. She was lucky and didn’t get pimples very often. Her body was bigger, but she had curves and her breasts were pretty darn awesome. As she turned away and looked around her room. She noticed how many books on various topics she had. She might not be the next Einstein or Hawking, but she was smart. Smart enough to graduate early. She had always seen that as a way to escape the bullying, but it really was an accomplishment. She went to her wardrobe and pulled out a dress that her brother had bought her for her birthday. She threw it onto her bed and turned back to the section of her wardrobe that was filled with clothes that still had tags. Things that she never wore because she was embarrassed by her body and didn’t want others to see. She was going to only wear things from this section from now on. She pulled out a pretty lingerie set she had purchases in a moment of rare hope and bravery, then hid away because there was no point wearing something sexy when it would never be seen. But now... She smiled to herself. I wonder if Dom would like it? Even if he doesn’t, I do. She nodded decisively and added that to the outfit she was assembling for her debut tomorrow. She moved around her room, searching through necklaces and accessories. She had never realised how much she had accumulated. She had always worn the same few things, so had stopped noticing what else she had. Apparently Mikey had been more generous than she remembered.

After picking a few extra pieces and cutting off the tags, she moved everything to her desk with a pleased nod. She then went downstairs to the kitchen. She wanted to show her brother how much she appreciated him. So she started cooking. Putting together his favourite meal. Roast veg, crumbled chicken and a coffee and walnut cake. As she iced the cooled cake and put the finishing touches on the dinner, she heard him unlock the door.

“welcome home" as she cheerfully bounded up to him. Throwing her arms around his waist and hugging him tightly. He gave her a surprised smile which widened as he gave a sniff. “what’s the special occasion?”

“ I am happy to have you as my brother. I realised that you were right. About so many things. I have been hiding for so long. You always saw who I really am. And today, someone else did also. I want to change. So, starting now. I am going to be who I want to be. Unapologetically myself.”

“it’s about time.” He laughed and walked into the kitchen, arm over my shoulder. Then he suddenly stopped and turned to me. “you said someone else. Who is this someone?” He arched his brow. “I kind of.... got a boyfriend.” “what?! Who is he? Is he smart? Is he nice? Do I know him? .....” “Wait. His name is Dominick. We go to school together. He is very nice. He thinks I am pretty and smart and no. I don’t think you know him. But you will soon. I promise I will introduce you soon. Mikey, he treats me like I am special. He is a good guy.” As I look up at him, surprise flashes across his face. He has never heard me speak like this before. So confident and sure. He smiles brighter than I have ever seen before and pulls me close. “I am so happy for you Maddy.” He kisses the top of my head and I pull away to start serving dinner. We laugh and talk for hours. I realise just how much I have worried him all this time. He has a relaxed energy about him that I honestly can’t remember him having. He has always taken care of me. It’s time that I returned the favour. We clean up and do our assignments. Then go to bed. I fall asleep the moment my head hits the pillow.
