CHAPTER 7

1183 Words
Maddy Ever moment I am not studying or spending time with my brother I am with Dom. Over the past few weeks I have gotten to know most of his pack. They seem pretty accepting of me considering I’m a human. His mum Sky has been helping me prepare for pack life. Explaining the Luna's duties and how things are managed when you have so many werewolves running around. We talked about having me try out some of the training, but Dom and his dad Bael put the idea down very quickly. The differences in strength and reflexes alone would be a nightmare. I agree in moments. No offense to Sky, but I wasn’t exactly a warrior queen. Now if they wanted to argue, I could give them a run for their money. I had discovered a stubborn streak that I didn’t know I had after Dom and Mikey met. Honestly, I was prepared for the worst. I wasn’t expecting for them to get on so well. At first I was super happy. The 2 most important people in my life were friendly. But by the time I came back with snacks, the table was covered with baby photos. Dom looking at them with glee while Mikey told stories about my childhood. As he reaches for one from my 12th birthday, I can’t stop myself from yelping as I thump the tray down onto the table. “Michael James! What do you think you are doing showing my boyfriend all of these?” my hands clenched on my hips. Mikey looks over at Dom, “yeah.... She used my middle name. So I am just gonna put these away". He slides his arm across the table, dumping the loose photos into a storage box and whisking them away. I watch Dom turn to me with a sulking look on his face. I Humf, and turn around. My hair flicking behind me as I move to the living room. Dom follows and tries to get me to look at him. I know I am over reacting, but I also don’t want to forgive him too quickly. I bite my lip in annoyance. He rests his chin on my shoulder as his arms reach around and clasp together under my breasts. I can’t stop the small moan that escapes from my lips. The tingles that rush across my skin with his touch have only gotten stronger since we had s*x. I hear a cough and we turn to see Mikey in the doorway. “am I interrupting something?” his brow arches and Dom slowly pulls away. “nope. Just learning my lesson. Don’t tell Maddy my middle name". I give him a gentle slap on the arm as my brother laughs. We spend the next few hours chatting away before night falls and Dom goes home. We finish clearing up and I can’t help but grab Mikey's hand. “thank you.” He smiles, kisses the top of my head and we both go to our rooms to sleep. Dom and I have been dating for months. It’s been difficult for us this last week as I haven’t had any time to spend with him and I think his wolf is going through mate withdrawals. Every time I leave him, I hear a soft whimper. I have been finishing up the assignments and exams and can finally graduate. I am not going to make a big thing about it. Dom and his parents are taking Mikey and I out for dinner to celebrate. I am so relieved that it’s all over and I can relax. It’s all over. My hard work and persistence paid off and I can spend the rest of the year doing getting ready for what will happen next. Bael has said he wants me to do some work experience at his main business. He had been impressed with my work ethic and results, not to mention the fact that he is just waiting for me to marry into the family and make my place in the pack official. So, he asked if I wanted to get more involved in the Alpha and Luna duties. Half the pack have regular jobs, but with so many wolf necessary tasks, an alternative monetary revenue stream has always been needed to supplement the pack's finances. Over the years, they have started a few businesses, made some investments. It turns out that occasionally a wolf with just have a sense of what will be successful or can pick a worthwhile stock venture. Guess it’s almost like a treasure hunting instinct or something. This is how I discovered one of the reasons why Cecelia had been so angry with my relationship with Dom. Turns out that years ago, when her grandfather started his business, the pack heavily invested in his company. And after he passed on, her father took over. He is apparently not so savvy. There has been a decline in profits the last few years and Bael has only kept the investment going out of loyalty. I understand where he is coming from. From what I have learned through my experience with everyone, the werewolves are fiercely true-hearted. Their devotion is admirable, but in a financial stand point, the allegiance they show to a failing business means that they will suffer future hardships. Thankfully, even with the steep learning curve, my schedule has become more flexible and I have time to spend with Dom. My life feels balanced and I have a sense of self confidence and self worth that I had never experienced before meeting my mate. While our souls complete each other, his support help me find fulfilment within myself. The rest of the year past in what felt like a blink of an eye. I watched Dom graduate along with all my former classmates. Mikey and I joined their family for Christmas. Luckily it went without any drama. I was concerned that some of the pack wouldn’t be able to conceal their excitement and transform. I haven’t figured out how I am going to have the werewolf conversation yet. Can’t really just say, ‘your future brother-in-law is a werewolf. You want to see him transform? He looks really cool and is super cute.’ So I will need to work on that. Dom took me back to the lake for new years. The sounds and smells of fireworks can be a bit intense, so he set out a bunch of candles so we were surrounded by a warm glow that was just so romantic. We spent hours there. The things he did to me and how he made me feel, he had to carry me back to the car because my legs were so weak I couldn’t walk. That night will stay with me forever. Magical doesn't begin to describe how special it was.
