Elaine's POV
I stood at the door in shock, my legs glued to the ground, refusing to move. My gaze from Olivia to Finn. She was in her underwear, head buried in Finn's chest. Finn looked wrecked, hair messy, shirt hanging on the table as he buried his face in her neck, kissing her while his hands trailed down her body.
They would have gone further, stripping each other naked if I didn't barge in.
“What the f**k!”
“How could you?” I screamed, my voice ripping through the hallway. I tried fighting back my tears, but it wasn't working.
“Oh what do we have here? It's the weak pathetic omega,” she said, tilting her head to face me. Her face displayed mockery, satisfaction and victory.
I tried to speak, but the words stuck to my throat, refusing to expose the hurt in them. I turned to Finn, now fully dressed, searching his eyes for an explanation.
“Finn, I can forgive you if you admit this was a mistake. Just tell me it was a mistake, and I'll forget this ever happened,” I blurted out. I didn't want to lose him, us, our bond.
“Someone's begging for love.” Olivia mocked.
I ignored her, fixing my gaze on Finn, searching for answers. I know I was being foolish and stupid. But part of me still prayed he'd call it a mistake.
“Elly, I need someone strong and fierce to stand by me. Someone worthy of being called my Luna,” he explained flatly, finally meeting my gaze. “It certainly can't be you. You are just too weak,” he explained. His voice, void of emotion.
His words stung like a thousand needles pierced through my heart.
“Really? This relationship took my investment, and you want to trash all that away because she gave you her body?” I yelled, choking on my tears.
“Elaine,” Olivia called, stalking towards me till she was an inch apart. “Whatever I want I'll get, I want Finn, and I've got him, wrapped tight around my fingers,” she whispered, grinning, before sliding back to his side.
I wasn't one who let others have the last laugh even though it hurt. I wiped my cheek with the back of my palm and lifted my chin.
“Olivia," I called, moving close to her like a predator locking on its prey. She flinched, stepping back. She tried to look strong, but her eyes gave her away.
“You can only get my leftovers, that's all you are permitted to get – trash,” I said, my voice dangerously sweet. I let my words sink in before stepping back.
Finn stared at me like I had grown two horns. As my reaction took him off balance.“The mating ceremony is tomorrow at dusk, don't be late,” he said, turning back to his table with an unreadable expression.
“Your absence would secure punishment. I know you wouldn't want that,” he added.
“I won't,” I said flatly. I turned on my heel and left them both in confusion at my behavior.
I burst out of the palace, took off my heels, and ran without looking back. Tears streamed down my face.
I ran past the trees deep into the forest without realizing it. I halted, finally looking around. I hadn't noticed anything while running.
I'm so stupid,” I sighed, hitting my forehead. “I'm so useless, I never get the good things for myself,” my thoughts spiraled, failing to notice the shadows lurking around me.
“I think we had a pretty catch tonight,” a deep husky voice rang out from the dark.
My heart hammered, my lips parted to speak but got stuck to my throat.
Five rogues stepped out from behind me. Dirty. Haggard. Unkempt.
“Now I can conclude that the moon goddess hated me,” I muttered to myself. My shoulders shook in fear, ready to accept my fate.
“I think we should have a little fun with her, before sending her off to meet her ancestors,” another masculine voice rang out from the dark.
My face twisted in disgust at the thought of being abused by rogues. I can't fight them. They were many and also strong.
Four of them closed in, forcing me down onto my belly. Hands and legs pinned.
“Please, let me go,” I screamed, crying, begging and kicking. A slap cracked across my face, forcing my mouth shut. I cringed from the pain, but it wasn't compared to the pain tearing through my chest.
Cold air hit my bare skin as my clothes were ripped off.
I felt a weight on me as something hard went into my core.
Numbness swallowed me. The pain made me feel weightless.
I stopped fighting.
Stopped screaming.
There was no point.
The rouge on top of me grunted. Sweat dripped on my back. The others laughed. Urging him to be quick for them to take their turn.
Then, a shadow fell over us.
A low growl tore through the forest. Not one of theirs. There was authority
In its voice. An Alpha I presumed.
The rogues froze, eyes widened in shock.
