Chapter 14 - 2013 A sliver of light filtered through the edge of the blackout curtain. Lucy made an effort to open her eyes and get her bearings, not an easy task with her head throbbing as though she was wearing a hat three sizes too small for her. She struggled to focus as she looked around at the unfamiliar setting until her gaze stopped at the arm resting on her hips. For an infinitesimal moment she plunged into panic. And then she remembered. She checked the time and cursed silently. She pushed his arm gently away and got out of bed slowly, fighting back a nail-in-the-temple feeling. She slipped back into her dress, grabbed her jacket, and cast one last glance at him. After all these years, he still had that quiet charm and affable manner. There had been a sweet sadness in his eyes
