Lucy let her gaze glide around the living room. She had not imagined she would sell the apartment so fast. But it was in a sought-after neighborhood and in very good condition.
She was in a bittersweet mood: eager to move on to the next chapter in her life and sad about closing this one in equal measure. She had been happy in London, a successful career and a classy boyfriend, but those days were gone.
Despite the frivolous night with Michael – and that was all it was she reminded herself, the man was still pining over his runaway bride – she missed William and the cosmopolitan life they enjoyed. She had found herself fighting back the temptation to call him several times these last couple of weeks.
