"Who?" Nathaniel didn't move, his focus still on his steak, cutting into it with deliberate ease.
Gwendolyn sighed theatrically, "It's Julian Hart. I'm not sure why he's back in the country, but he's in the next room. And the person with him... well, they look very familiar..."
Before she could finish, Nathaniel's expression darkened.
The business associate caught the shift and smiled lightly. "Mr. Cross, if you need to catch up with an old friend, don't worry about me. I can enjoy the meal on my own."
"Mm," Nathaniel responded, his voice detached. "Gwen, stay here."
"Of course," Gwendolyn agreed eagerly, sensing his growing tension. She could tell something was brewing. With Nathaniel's temper rising, she knew whatever happened next would be explosive.
