Kayla's pov
I openedy eyes with a pounding headache, my gaze was fixed on the white ceiling which made it clear to me that I was dead. But if truly I was dead, then why was I feeling so much pain.
I turned around, my back aches with a sharp pain, and as I face the other side of the room, it was a simple bit large bedroom, painted in white and a few simple designs.
This was when it dawn to me that I wasn't dead, I jerked up, sitting upright as my hands reaches for my stomach.
As if sensing that I was awake, the door swung open and a man in his late forties stepped in with a bright smile on his face.
“Finally you are awake”
“Where am I?” My eyes flickered with fear, even though I could still sense the heart beat in my stomach. I wasn't sure whwre I was, who this man is it if he works for Elena.
“Calm down. You are not fully healed. My name is Collins and my friends and I found you in the woods where we went to collect herbs”
He pause, his gaze trailed down at me form head to toe. “You were barely alive when we found you, good thing we were there on time”
He let out a deep breath of relief and even as he did, the smile didn't leave his face.
“How long have I been unconscious?” I asked and noticed I was hungry but didn't dare to say it out loud.
“Four days, you have been unconscious”
“Thank you so much Mr. Collins for your help, I wish there is a way that I can repay you back. But I don't have anything to give, but I have to go now”
“You should rest, you are not fully healed, beside where will you go. I don't sense the connection of a pack around you, are you a rogue?”
I lowered my head, the last event began to flash into my memory, Damon had steard at me with not a single flicker of emotions, he had banished me and cut the link that I have with the pack.
“You are right. I was banished from my pack. But I wouldn't want to stay here, if Alpha Damon finds out I am here, it might become an issue. I am so grateful for your help and don't want to cause any more troubles”
“You don't have to worry. We are not afraid of Alpha Damon, he should be the one afraid of us”
There was a dark expression on his face that quickly faded away as quickly as it came. Suddenly I became uncomfortable, curious about who he was or what this place was.
“What pack is this?” I finally ask the question I should have asked since, he pulled the wooden stool close to me, his gaze fixed at me with a warm smile. Like he was urging me to be comfortable.
“This is a neutral ground. We belong to no pack”
“So you are a group of rogues?” I felt a cold shiver down my spine, I have heard about the rogue packs in the past, how bad they were and how they were always haunted by every pack and right now, this was the last palace that I wanted to be especially to raise a child.
“No, we are not rogues, we are the NELNITE!” He spoke and realization dawn on me. I have heard about them in the past, the most powerful healers.
It was rumored that they were capable of healing every kind of sickness, some even went as far as saying they speak directly to the moon goddess and all the plants.
Their connections grows far and wide since they have been able to cured several sickness no one else could and as a result of that. Almost every Alphas in the cities were indebted to them, that was how powerful they were, no one dared cross them.
I opened my mouth, my eyes popped wide in shock, no words came out of my mouth.
“You don't have to say anything, besides you babies are doing alright and you can stay here for as long as you want until you make a decision”
“Babies, what are you talking about?” I placed my hands gently on my stomach, feeling the warmth, the child I regarded as a blessing to my union with Damon, but here I was now, a rogue and wounded.
“You have no idea…. Oh! You are carrying triplets, congratulations”
His cheek widen into a chuckle while I remained dumbfounded, no I had to worry about three kids, how was that possible, how did I ended up with three kids for the Alpha.
“Also, Kayla….” He pause, staring at me, as if wondering if he should go ahead and speak. And just as i waited for him to speak, I realized something, I never told him my name.
“How did you know my name?” I asked with a perplexed expression on my face.
“I am a NELNITE, I know a lot and your name is the last thing I can find out about you”
“Okay….” His tone had changed and his gaze had become serious, everything about this place was starting the freek me out, I badly wanted to take out some air, but I knew it wasn't going to be an easy one.
“You are special Kayla and I think that whatever happened to you, it's the moon goddess choice”
“Her choice, are you serious or do you even kno what happened to me?” His words had porked a nerve inside of me.
“I know you were supposed to marry the Alpha”
“And I did not just lose him. I lost my family, my pack, my dignity and alsmot lost my life”
“And again. I am telling you that that is the moon goddess fate for you. You are special and you have more greater task ahead.”
“what are you talking about?” I frowned.
“I am telling you that you are a NELNITE!” He blurted out those impossible words and everywhere gee cold on a second. The air became so intense that even the sound of a pin could be heard falling.
I didn't realize I held out my breath all this while until I let out a deep breath and then rose to my fee hit.
“What are you doing?” he furrowed his brows, watching me get up.
“I should be the one asking you that. I am sure that this place isn't the NELNITE, and whatever you are, you are trying to trick me into believing your cooked lies, I am not falling for it!”
I yelled out, walking out the door which to my surprise wasn't locked. I stormed out of there and as I did, the sight before me was so beautiful.
There was so many plants and flowers, trees of various kind, Collins stood behind me, he didn't say a word like he was waiting for me to process everything.
“Kayla. It is your scent that lead us to you and I was surprised to find you in such state. I know you have been hurt and broken. But you can't keep dwelling on revenge.”
He stood in front of me and held me by my shoulder. “This is the moon goddess giving you a second chance at life and no matter how angry and broken you are, I hope you use this chance well”
He spoke with finality in his voice. I stood there. Taking in the beautiful environment before me, for a split moment, it seemed like all the anger inside of me had vanished.
But he was right. If this was a chance, to be able to help those in need, raise my kids in a good environment then I needed to do it.
But one thing was certain, the pain would never go away and when I was ready. I will return to the pack that had cast me away and take revenge on everyone that hurt me.
