Chapter 4

Arken wanted to close the door, but before he got the chance, the person had already stopped whatever they were doing. As for what they were doing? That was for another time (never). After coughing the man introduced himself, "Vernon Maybeck, nice to meet you" He held out his hand. Arken just glared at him, and walked past him, putting his stuff on the bed on the other side of the room.  "Hey! What's your name?" Oh great, it's a happy go lucky kinda guy. Arken sighed, he was doing that a lot ever since he had arrived there. Of course the hero academy is causing trouble for the tyrant.  "Kris" he didn't look at the dude as he sat on his bed.  "Kris, that's a name. Well, what magic do you have as your main? My main is curse magic" Arken really wanted to punch the guy now, he seemed to have an ability to bring out annoying matters, despite not knowing what the problem was. Also, how did a guy like that have curse magic?  "Pass Casting" Vernon's eyes widened.  "Woah, man, I got to make sure to stick close to you in the future" Did this man have no ability to conceal his thoughts!? Arken rolled his eyes, and tried to think through what he was going to do, but couldn't because everytime he tried, Vernon would interrupt.  After an hour, which was longer then Arken thought he would last, he finally got fed up, and left the dorm. One problem, he had no idea where to go. Better than being in the room with Vernon. Arken continued on the path, not even noticing the change of address for his roommate.  He quickly arrived in front of a black fortress looking building. The inside did not break the atmosphere as there were multiple training room and rings that people were fighting against each other in, or practicing their techniques or magic in.   Arken smiled as he looked at the familiar sight. It felt like he was back in his element. He found an empty arena and walked up, waiting for someone to come challenge him. Why was he doing this? Well you don't become a tyrant without a few tricks and such. Just because I can't practice multiple magics doesn't mean that I'm out of tricks. After only about a minute of waiting, someone came up to the platform, and some people started to gather around.  "I haven't seen you before, you new? A tip, don't expect people to go easy on you just because your a newbie" The brute who came up was as the name suggests a brutish looking fellow, with a hulking figure, and he said those things with a toothy grin.  Arken merely smiled in return. What technique should I practice first, Unveiled sword? No, I need a weapon, and it will be a while before I can get that.. Instead, I should go with that one, yeah. With that decided, Arken came back just in time, because the referee, who there a second before, yelled, "BEGIN!". The opponent charged forward, wasting no time. Arken waited for him to get right in front of him before moving. He thrust out his arm and hit his opponent's forearm. His opponent wore a mocking smile as Arken continued to hit him, but it all felt like nothing. Just as he was about to punch Arken, he froze, his eyes going wide, and he collapsed to the ground. There was silence from the crowd as they were very confused, just like the referee, before he said, "Kris wins". It was normal for referee's to know the names of the contestants as they had a perception spell that allowed for them to automatically see the name of the contestants at the beginning. At the same time Arken's card shown a little white light, before disappearing. Arken was confused, but didn't check it as he wanted to continue matches. He waited up on the platform for another person to fight. After the crowd finally got the hint, another man climbed onto the platform. Seems like there are a lot of brutes here.  "Start!" After 12 straight matches, Arken finally jumped off the platform, drenched in sweat. But that didn't stop other people from patting him on the back or punching his shoulder. He made it out of the building in one piece which was very good.  Arken headed back to the dormitory to take a shower, after all, he couldn't keep exploring like this, right? But truly what drove this was, I can not allow for people to take advantage of this to see my body! His clothes were made slightly transparent from the sweat, but really, who would do that?  After making it inside and taking a shower, I don't have any spare clothes, do I? Luckily, the academy had already gifted him 3 identical uniforms. He put one on, remarking at the fact that it fit so nicely. He looked in the mirror in the bathroom, happy to see that he did look pretty good.  The black uniform outlined his body, especially with the silver trim. It looks like I am wearing a layered tunic, but what is with this...tie? Strange, times really have changed. Arken went out of the bathroom and sat on the bed. I managed to get the basics of Warped Stimulation. I'll have to do much more things to truly be safe though. He laid back on the bed, look at the ceiling as his uniform slightly crumpled. Really, ME, as a support mage. But his mouth curved slightly. This life is definitely going to be much much more interesting.
