NEW BEGINNINGS

248 Words
My feet were hurting badly, as I jogged around the block , the time was just 6:45 am, coming to New York had been a relief not just for me but for mama as well, atleast here, Albert, Joe and little Susie were safe, here I could give them a better life, better than the life we had in Briunschick, Australia, life had been had, over the years, since pops had died, mama had been managing to keep the farm afloat, but the mortgage had been too much for what the farm produced, we had had to sell eventually, ' it was only a matter of time', mama had said. We had been struggling more than usual, and then the long drought were plants had withered, and the heat had killed off more than a fair number of cattle, that had been a sign that whatever god was out there was angry at us, but for what? we had no idea. Surviving that long drought and heat when we could barely afford constant electricity had been the biggest challenge mama and I had faced yet. I suddenly stumble on a large pebble, I was thinking so had, I had veered off the path, looking around I find that I had jogged over to Piedmont park, it was a little ways from my block. The sun rays are becoming stronger, soon the little damp and chill still clinging to the morning would be swamped with warmth by the sun.
