Hidden Secret

Chapter fourteen: Manya

Mike told me to go to my room, but I didn't. I could tell he was stress, so I watched him leave with Ace. Ace, I don't feel anything special towards him, not anymore. Last night I had been ready to spend forever with him, but not today, he is nothing more than Ace. I walk up to my room and sit at the desk. My guess is Rosa is outside at the party, and I'm fine with that I want to write Anna. 

          Dear Anna, 

It is so much fun here! You would love it! There are so many little kids that I know you would have so much fun with. I miss you so much! Maybe I will get to come home and visit sometime. I know you are treating Mrs.R right, because you're a good girl. I don't have a lot to tell, because I haven't got to do a whole lot yet, but let me tell you this. I have a card with unlimited money to spend on clothes and things. Hopefully you can come visit. Wouldn't that be awesome?! I have to go but I will write again soon. I love you!! Never forget that!

The letter seemed to take only a few minutes to write but when I looked at the clock it took 2 hours. Dang, I missed lunch. “Yes you did Hun, and we need to eat.” I hear my wolf say to me. Well off to the kitchen. 

       I grab my letter and as I  walk out of my bedroom the house is quiet. Weird. I go to find Mike before I head to the kitchen so I can see if we can get my letter mailed off today. I walk up to his door and hear the shower on. I knock but no one answers. “I'll just take it and lay it on his bed.” I say to myself and open the bedroom door and walk in. There are pictures of me and him everywhere.  I start looking at all of them, getting lost in the memories. I find a picture of him and my mom. It looks recent. I stand there looking at it and I hadn't even noticed the shower had turned off, in my own little world. “You look like her.” The richest Russian accent I have ever heard says. I turn around slowly. Standing there in nothing but a towel was the sexiest man I have ever seen. I can't say anything, Just stare.”I, um, I uh, I'm sorry, I was uh, looking for, uh Mike.” I stutter through the sentence. Great Manya, real smooth. The man, yes man, he is no boy, walks over to me and I have to look up at him. He has to be like 6’7. He is built like I can't even explain, he is huge, and so good looking. His short cropped brown hair and yellow eyes. I can't look away. “My name is Kade, I'm a friend of your brothers.” He smiles at me and I stopped breathing. “Hon you have to breath, in, out, in, out.” My wolf reminds me and I start again. “I, uh, I'm Manya.” I look down. “It's-” he is cut off by Mike. “Manya what are you doing in here?!” I look at him with big eyes then back to Kade. “I uh, I was going to the kitchen to get food but I wrote Anna a letter, and I wanted to drop it off to you but you wasn't here I thought it was you in the shower I was just going to leave the letter on your bed but I saw the pictures and he got out and I,I….” I couldn't finish because I had to take a breath. Mike and Kade look at each other and laughed. I blush and push the letter into Mike's chest as I try and run out the door, someone grabs my arm though. I turn around and see Kade has a hold of my arm. While I look at him I see black marks almost like tattoos running up his arm and across his chest. “What the-” I feel something running across my body and pull my arm from Kades. I grab my shirt and pull it off so that I'm only in my tank top. I look down and I have the exact marks on my body but in a different spot. I look at Mike and Kade. Anger rising up in me. They aren't telling me something. “What is this?!” I ask seething. Mike looks at Kade and there is shock in his eyes, but Kade looks smug. “I told you.” Is all that is said, and Kade said it. “You're right…” Mike says. I'm just standing here. “What is happening?!” I finally scream and both the guys look at me surprised. Kade looks to be in total shock and Mike looks like he is fighting an inner battle. “We can tell you later, let's go get some food.” Mike tries to cover it up. “No, we are staying right here until you tell me.” I say, kind of stomping my foot. Kade smiles. “Sit.” Kade says and I can't help but sit right where I am, and Mike does the same. Weird. “Okay, this is going to sound weird to you. I am from an ancient line of wolves, we live in the mountains. The only time we come down is to look for our mates, who are not in our pack. We leave on our 18th birthday, and stay out for as long as it takes, sometimes some never come back.” Kade looks down at his feet as if remembering someone.  “When we do find our mates though it is special. Because we are the purest bloodline things work differently for us. When we find out mates we get theses tattoos, the males are more pronounced, and the females are hidden only for her mate to see.” I look at him shocked, then look down at my new dark tattoos. “Manya I was going to tell you at dinner that he was here, but now that you met him.” I look around. “Wait, wait wait. I thought Ace was my mate?” I ask looking at Mike. He just looks down. “We thought he was, but if a wolf shows strong feelings for another it can cause a false mating, which makes it where neither of you would be happy.” Mike looks down. “Manya I didn't believe him at first, I truly didn't, but now.” He bows his head. “So Manya King you are my mate.” Kade says with a huge smile on his face. Suddenly I become very aware that he is still in only a towel, and I blush and look down. This makes him smile even wider. “I do not know you.” I say and keep looking down. “I need to go for a drive.” I say and run out the door. I run past Ace in the hallway and hear his gasp, but I don't slow down. 

When I get out the door I run to the garage and see the corvette that Ace had bought me. I smile weakly, and get in. The car starts easily and I back out and off I go. I don't know where I'm going all I know is that I'm driving away from the King estate. I drive until I see the gas light comes on. I pull over to the side of the road and step out happy to stretch, I don't know how long I've been driving but I'm sure it had been a couple hours and I need to walk around for a minute. I step out and straighten my clothes and realized I had left in just my tank top. “No wonder Ace had been shocked he had seen the new markings or whatever.” I say to myself. “We need to cover up Hun, Kade would not be happy if another wolf sees his marks.” My wolf answers me calmly. “His marks? His marks? I don't know him what makes him think he can just show up and claim me?!” I half scream at my wolf in my head. “I did, his wolf is perfect for us, he is strong.” Is all she says. “Whatever.” I mumble and continue to walk around. “Manya Manya Manya.” The voice tsk. I turn around to see who it is but see no one it's really dark out. “Why is it that that we always seem to run into each other when you run away from home.” “Manya grab your jacket and cover up Kade’s marks.” My wolf says in my head, but I can't seem to turn my back on him. “You know You never got back with me on that date.” He coos and I cringe. This doesn't sound like the Toby I've met before. “Yeah, I've been a little busy, plus it was just last night that you brought it up.” I say and try to laugh it off.  “I don't like to wait.” He growls. “I-I-I'm sorry.” I manage to stutter out. “So has Ace started leaving you alone yet?” He asks and seems to be coming back to himself. “Yeah, he got over me.” “Good, I could tell you both weren't really mates.” He says. “Yeah.” Is all I can reply. I look around still not able to see him anywhere, and this puts my wolf on edge. “You know there are rumors going around that there is a rogue wolf running around, and a unmated girl like you should not be out here alone.” Toby seems to purr. “Yeah, I know I just needed to go for a drive.” “I can take you home.” Toby says and steps out of the shadows. “Kade is on his way honey just hold tight.” My wolf says to me and I feel relief. “That's okay, I have my car here.” I say and pat it. “Is there something on your shoulder?” Toby asks coming closer. “Shit.” I say in my head. I freeze as he comes up and touches my new marks. “What in the hell is this? It looks like the marking from a wolf from the mountain wolves…” He doesn't finish his sentence because he is slapping me. “What the f**k is that?!” He yells. I just whimper, his slap stung my face and I could feel it swelling. “Answer me!” He screams and starts coming at me again. I curl up into a ball and pray for the best, but Toby never reaches me. I slowly open my eyes and look and Toby is standing over me eyes wide, looking at the forest. Then I hear it. A growl louder than anything I had ever heard before. I close my eyes again,worried it is some of Toby's men, and I lay there.

I couldn't take it any longer. I open my eyes and see the largest wolf I have seen yet walking towards me and Toby. It lets out a growl and shows its teeth and Toby steps back a few steps. The wolf walks up to me and nudges my face then turns back to Toby. It growls again and I cover my ears, and the wolf gets quieter. Then everything stops, and all I hear is Toby's gasp. I look and where the black wolf was stands Kade. He is putting some shorts on and looking straight at Toby. “Do you see those marks on her?!” Kade uses his alpha voice like earlier and Toby bows his head. “Yes.” “Then why are you talking to her?” He growls. “I-I-I don't know.” Toby stutters out. “Leave.” Was all Kade said and Toby shifted into a wolf and ran away. “What were you thinking?!” Kade turns around and tries to use his alpha voice on me. I stare at him wide eyed, almost like I have to answer him but I stop myself. Who was he to talk to me like that? “Excuse me mister big shot. You have no right coming here and using your big boy voice on me! It isn't going to work. And who the hell do you think you are to question me about anything I do?” I say in a matter of fact tone. He looks shocked. “I just saved you!” He says, getting more angry. “You did and thank you, but I do not know you and I will not! Have you telling me what to do.” I say. “God, women.” He says under his breath. “You did not.” I say. He looks at me. “We are going to have to run home, I didn't bring any gas.” “Fine.” I say and shift and his eyes get large. “You're white….” He says almost to himself. I look at him and tilt my head. “moya lyubov' you are beautiful.” He says then shifts.

      His wolf is huge, and black with some white marks that look like the marks we both have, I can't help but stare. “Moya lyubov' can you hear me?” I look side to side then back to him and nod. “You have black marks on your fur that match your mark.” He says and I can hear the shock in his voice. I try and look but end up just going in a circle. I hear him laugh and it makes me smile. “Stop it!” I tell my brain. “We are mad at him remember?” I say, and my wolf replies. “We can't stay mad at him for long he is ours.” I sigh and Kade walks up and rubs against me. “Kade, I don't know how to get home.” I push to him in my head. “It's okay just follow me.” Is all he says and with one final nudge we are off running. “Come on moya lyubov' keep up.” I hear Kades joking voice in my head. I'm panting and out of shape and he is having no problems at all. 

      I push myself faster to keep up with him but stop when I hear a noise. Kade keeps running. “Kade, someone is watching us.” I push through and he comes running up to me. I watch him sniff the air and then look at me. “It's a little human girl.” He say. I look at him and smell the air also and I know just where she is. I can tell she is scared. “I'm going to check on her.” I say and walk almost to where she is, and she whimpers. I lay down on my belly and crawl towards her. She is so little and dirty. Anna. The Only word that came into my mind. “moya lyubov' we can't help her.” Kades voice echos in my mind but I ignore him. The little girl's eyes get larger as I get closer to her. I nudge her and she lets me, so I lick her. I hear Kade walking up behind me and the little girl starts shaking. I stand up and rub against Kade and I hear him make a sound of contentment. “Don't get used to this big guy, I just don't want her to be scared of you.” I say and lay back down with her. She is so cold. “Kade can we take her home? We can go into town and look for her parents tomorrow?” I ask and look at him with big eyes. “Fine.” Was all I heard but I could hear the smile in his voice. I nudge the little girl and try and signal for her to get on Kades back. “Why mine?” I hear him ask, while he is laughing as he lays down for her.  This makes me laugh. “You're more in shape than me.” I say and lick the little girl. She wraps her hand in Kades fur and off we go. We don't run as fast as we did before but we still run faster than normal wolves. Kade is being so careful with the little girl it melts my heart. “Mike I need you to set out some clothes for me and Kade on the porch, plus get some food ready we have a little visitor.” I send through the bond. “A little visitor?” He asks. I send him a picture of her, and all I get is a okay. “Mike left us some clothes on the porch.” “Okay.” He replies and turns and smiles at me, with a toothy wolf grin. “she is asleep.” He says as we run up to the house and slow down. “I'll change first and come get her, just give me a sec.” I say and grab the clothes on the porch with my mouth and run behind a tree. 

      I quickly shift and put my clothes on, and go and pick up the little girl. She is so skinny, and he brown hair is matted. I look at Kade. “I'll wait here for you.” I say and turn around so he can shift. I feel a hand on my shoulder and turn back around to a very large Kade smiling at me. I smile back then walk inside. “What happened to her?” Mike asks with Ace at his side looking sad. “We were running home, and she was watching us, she looked so scared Mike, and I couldn't leave her, I know what that's like.” I said not meaning for it to sound as hateful as it came out. “I know..let's get her a bath then some food, how old do you think she is?” Mike asks looking at her asleep on my shoulder. “Maybe four I say and head to the bathroom. 

      I stop by my room and grab one of my shirts, for her to change into. “Wake up sweetie.” I say gently shaking her. She wakes with a start and jumps up. “Where is the doggie?” She asks. I smile. “Can I tell you a secret?” I ask. She nods still weary of me. “I am the doggie.” She looks me over for a second and then runs to me. “That was easier than I thought.” I think to myself. “Come on let's get you a bath then some food how does that sound?” I ask and she nods.

      After her bath, we walk down to the kitchen and the boys are there, they turn and look at us when they hear us. I set her down on the ground and she instantly runs to Kade and hugs him. He looks taken aback by this, but hugs her back anyway. I smile and walk over to the fridge and grab some leftover porkchops and start warming them up. “So what is your name?” Kade asks the little girl. She hadn't spoken a word since she asked me about the doggy, and why she ran right up to Kade I have no clue. “Rose.” She whispers. “Well it's nice to meet you Rose, I'm Kade, this is Mike, this is Ace and she is Manya.” Kade said pointing to everyone as he introduced us. Rose looks at me. “Manya, is hard to say.” She pouts and I have to laugh. I pull the pork chops out of the microwave and start cutting them up. “Well then you can call me M, okay?” I ask smiling at her, and she smiles back. Kade starts bouncing her on his knee and singing some Russian song, and I just can't help but smile. I feel someone watching me and look up to see Ace staring straight at me. I look down and finish putting Roses food on a plate and grab a glass and straw and get her some apple juice.

      I set the plate down in front of her and she looks at it wide eyed and almost jumps into my arms trying to hug me. “Thank you.” She says as she starts shoveling food into her mouth. “Hey now, you have to slow down.” I tell her and sit on the other side of her and Kade, just smiling.
