“I will not lie to you.” Malus spoke on their tenth day of sailing, as he helped Kalliope brushing her hair, “Things will be different once we arrive at Caelora.”
She raised an eyebrow, “Do you have several lovers waiting for your return?”
Malus was indignant, “I am not your sister!”
That got a chuckle out of Kalliope, “I didn’t think it would be to that degree.”
He prodded her side, drawing out a yelp, “I was talking about the court.”
That soberedher up immediately, “My mother was speaking about etiquette and traditions I need to know. But to be honest with you, I was too shocked at that point to learn anything.”
“Ah, my apologies, starlight.” He dropped a kiss to the top of her head, “But I’m afraid even if you did listen to her, it wouldn’t have helped much.”
“That’s reassuring.”
