The Devil’s Bite

Chapter 31

The strong sunlight was transferring to the windowpane inside Sofia’s room. She’s already awake but does not want to leave the bed yet. She got at least seven hours of sleep after the coffee night with him. She did not expect his sudden invitation, but that made his heart steading. She has no idea what’s something special today but it made her so excited. Her smile never fades since she woke up. “Good morning, world.” She sat on the bed and stretched her hands like her morning routine. She walked towards the window and opened it. Fresh air flew inside her room. What’s on outside the room are trees and few plants around his house. Demire seemed not into green surrounding but it’s a big mistake because he really is.

When she checked the time again on the small wall clock, she started to worry about the reason why he did not wake her up today. She fixed herself and went out of the room. She’s a bit familiar now about the house. She already knew few directions to go with. Sofia reached the living room but he was not there. “Demire?” She tried to search for him around the living area and but her feet brought her outside where she saw him lying on the sun lounger beside the peanut shape pool and holding a book. The pool site was neat and beautiful. “You have really beautiful house.”

He already knew she was here but Demire decided to wait her reached him. “Thanks, how was your sleep?”

“It’s good.” She walked towards him and patted the headrest of his chair. “Why you didn’t wake me up?”

“Should I?” His forehead frowned and looked up to her. “We can leave anytime, so why would I disturb you from sleep?” Demire closed the book he was reading almost one hour now before she went inside the pool area. “Beside we slept late last night.”

“Yeah, but I’m worried about what will you think of a woman like me waking up so late at the morning. I’m not what you think, okay? I used to wake up before six when I am home, is just that…”

He chuckled. “Cut it, Sofia, I’m not thinking anything like that about you. Would you like to have breakfast now?” He stood up and stared at her. Her hair still a bit messy, same clothes last night that she forgot to change and swollen-eyed for the morning but she still looked beautiful.

She sighed and looked away to cut his stare. She realized late about her morning look. “I don’t know where did I left my pride, but I would refuse the breakfast. I promise to treat you back today.” She winked at him and turned around. She walked away first that seemed to know the whole house but he has long legs than her to reach the dining first. “Oh, you prepared them?” Her eyes filled with amusement when she found the table with breakfast already in the table. She removed the cover.  There were fruits, eggs, bread and ham for the breakfast.

“Yes. What would you like to drink?”

She smiled at him. “Coffee?”

He did not reply her and started to prepare coffee for them. Demire smiled when he turned his back at her. Every time he saw her amazed and happy. It made him happy too. He has no idea what to prepare for breakfast, so he did research today. He never knew how it would feel to have breakfast again with her, but today is satisfying. Demire used to have breakfast from food delivery or either sometimes he skipped breakfast and go to work directly. He got two cups of coffee and put it on the table. “You should not drink coffee often. A human body is very weak compare to—” He paused when he realized what he was talking about. He is about to tell her something that surely will make her confuse about. “Nothing, just don’t drink coffee often.”

“Thank you, Demire.” She started to get her plate and filled it with banana and two pieces of toasted bread. “Well, I love coffee.”

As soon as they finished breakfast, they decided to leave early than the set time. She wore the clothes he bought for her. Watching her reflection on a tall mirror inside her room, wearing a blue dress he bought. It gave her a deep thought. She owed him many things and has no idea how to pay him. It made her think about how she will pay him. When she saw the prices of the clothes he bought for her, it cost too much. Plus, she owed her many things now, from helping her and such of the good things he had done for her. She did not expect it from him. He was completely different from the first assumptions of her. She seemed facing different man when they were working and when they are outside of the work. He is acting so professional at work and very kind friend of her when they are out of the company.

“Are you done?”

She heard him said behind the closed door of her room. “I’ll be ready in five.” She started to arrange her things back to her bag. This is the only bag she had been using to work. After checking herself again on the mirror, she finally decided to go out and see him. An astounding man standing in front of her room is the first thing what she saw when she went out of her room. He is wearing very different to what he used to wear when they are on the company.
