“S-Sofia…” His eyes were amazed. This amazing woman in front of him, is what made his heart warm and happy at the same time.
“Show me your look,” she’s challenging him, “I watched many vampire movies before.” She remained with tilted head and teasing him with her neck. “They are not scary after all.”
“Sofia, you’re not in a movie. And you’re facing a real vampire.”
“And?” She’s totally brave and challenging woman.
“I have sharp fangs, red eyes, and eerie personality.”
“Then show me, Demire.” Her eyes were focus on his eyes. There is nothing in this world that can change Sofia’s mind. She was decided and really eager to know him more. If there is one thing that could change her mind, it is the fear she has, that Demire might avoid her for knowing who he was. “I already saw you last night, half-n***d beside me on the bed. Staring at me. Your red eyes are useless, because it didn’t hide your concern to me that night. I knew the wound you left on my neck and the burn on my wrist, but it’s all gone the next morning. Call me anything you want, but that night… to collapse and pretend I lost my consciousness is the only thing came up to my mind first.” She sighed.
“And you did it because you are afraid that I will avoid you the next day?”
Sofia nodded and bow her head. She cannot look at him directly after the lies she had done last night.
“You know what, Sofia…” He stepped forward and held her chin up. She faced him with worried eyes.
“W-what?”
“You lied.”
She sighed and clenched her fists for her own stupidity. “I know but believe me Demire there is—”
“But that was my favorite lie after so many years.” He didn’t give her a chance to reply him or even ask him why. He immediately claimed her lips and kissed it possessively. As if he owned it. Her sinful and talkative lips was turned to be his favorite. Her lies, her flaws, her innocence, stupidity and everything she has, had been his favorite. All what he has to do now, is to admit himself the thing what made him amazed about this woman that accepted him, the way he did not expect she will accept him. He cooped her face with his warm broad palms and deepen the kiss. “You are amazing, Sofia…” this is the only thing he mouthed when their lips parted. “No doubt you worth to be protect.” He hugged her and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
“Demire… does it mean… you are not going to avoid me?” She was in his embrace, leaning her head on his chest.
He let go of her, holding her shoulder and staring at her. He was staring at him for more than a minute until he decided to remove the black contact-lenses he was using to hide his b****y eyes. “This is the last pair I got, cannot let it melt.”
“I don’t get it.” Sofia was confused of what he doing, but when she saw his eyes with its original color, she already knew it. He was hiding his eyes with different colors of contact lenses. “You have red eyes, just like some vampires I watched before.”
“Is that all you will react?” There was wonderment on his eyes. Her reaction was everything. This is the response he never imagined he will get to a human like Sofia.
“How does it feel? They seemed burning.” She was scanning both corners of his eyes as if she wanted to know something about it that completely rose her curiosity. “Do you ever touch it? Your eyes were amazing, Demire. If I could be the one to decide, I wanted to see those eyes every day and never hide it.”
He didn’t answer. Slowly his sharp fangs appeared and sudden changes of his skin. It turned white just like snow. Just like her first expression, it never changed. She stayed focused on his eyes and scanning his whole body.
“Do you know me?” she asked him.
“What?” Demire got confused.
“Can tell me my name?”
“Are you crazy?”
“No, just please tell me.”
He cannot read her eyes but he knew there was something in it that could make him more amaze to this wonderful woman. “In case you forgot your name, you are Sofia Pollyana. My silly secretary.”
A smile drew her lips.
“That’s not the reaction I expected after I call you ‘silly—” He was cut off when Sofia hugged him. “Aren’t you afraid? You are hugging a devil.”
“No, you are the same Demire I met since day one. So, why would I?”
He got it. She asked him a question that will reassure herself he remained the same man she met before. Sofia may be innocent and prone but she is unpredictable. She is the best example of a woman that you cannot underestimate easily. Brave and smart in different ways. “You’re funny.” He hugged her back and brought back his human appearance in just a snap of his finger. She is worth everything. After this acceptance, she gave my life a new meaning and showed me something I never seen before.
He wanted to have new beginning.
That night became too memorable for the both of them. Demire experienced rejection and got acceptance tonight inside the same farm, with different memories with Angelique and Sofia. They continued watching movies and had fun with each other as if nothing happened. He didn’t know this day would come to his life, where he was tired to reach out with people once been closed to him.
“Good night, Sofia.” He sent her to her room at nine o’clock in the evening.
“Good night, Demire.” She Gave him a smile.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, prepare your things tonight. We will leave early, so we can still go to work for a half day.”
“Noted, Mr. Goddard—” She was cut off when he kissed her lips. Sofia blushed.
