Chapter 15

When the food delivery arrived, Sofia didn’t hesitate to get some for her. She seems like a hungry lion, and will eat everything that would be look tasty in her eyes. Even Demire that turns out to be a sweet food in her eyes. A thick slice of cake with a cherry on the top.

“Clam down, it will choke you. Tsk! It’s all yours.”

“T-these foods? Are all mine?” Her eyes widened. She smiled when he nodded. They facing each other on a big rectangular table but her eyes glued only to those foods in front of her. “Wow! Thank you.”

Demire shrugged his shoulder and continue watching the hungry cockroach in front of him. She’s eating like it will be her last. His both arms crossed on his chest, leaning on the backrest of the armchair and watching her. He didn’t know why, but watching her has never been boring. In fact, he likes what he seeing.

Sofia never gets affected of him watching her, maybe because her focus was only on her food. Those delicious foods he ordered for her were all her favorite. She didn’t know how come, but she had thought he can read her mind. That was a funny thought anyway. “Just a coincidence,” she thought again.

“Sofia.”

She paused when she heard him called her name. She faced him. His eyes were serious and focusing her. She couldn’t stare at him for a minute, so she avoided his eyes and looked back to the fried chicken she currently eating. “Y-yes, Mr. Goddard?” She pretended unaffected.

“You’re always making trouble.” His eyes were the same as it was minute ago.

She sighed. Of course, she knew it. She noticed it even more than how he noticed it. Her first day to Goddard company, she went very late because of a sudden accident on the road that caused the heavy traffic. Her second day, she fainted, and in her third day she was attacked by the two guys and luckily saved by her boss. Before those troubled incidents of her, she’s suffering of her bad luck ever since. If she couldn’t find a job, she ended up being in trouble and wasn’t able to attend an interview. Everything what she will do, it will end her up being in trouble. She twined by trouble. “Yes, I know. I was born having a twin sister, and her name was trouble.”

Demire chuckled of what she said but immediately changed his reaction, when he noticed Sofia staring at him.

“I’m sorry.” She looked devastated. She stopped eating and looked away. “I always trying my best to not cause any trouble but I always caused it, unwantedly. I don’t know why.” She sighed deeply again. “Thank you, Mr. Goddard, for helping and saving me today. That means a lot.” She smiled bitterly and go back eating.

He started wondering how she feels. He might be cold outside but he understands human, he used to work, interacts with them. But in her case, he can feel what inside her now. She’s too genuine and it melting him inside. “It’s okay,” his short reply.

“I’m full already,” she said exhaustedly and stood up. “Can I use a toilet?”

He nodded. He pointed her the direction where the toilet was. She immediately went there and few minutes ago, she went back to the pantry with a smile. He’s glad how easy for her to change her mood and emotions. He turned her back to her and started walking first to guide her on his room. “Sleep on the guest room, and don’t be late tomorrow.”

Is it just him? Or they really talking as if they’ve known each other for a long time? It was his first time he’d brought a woman in his house. It was just three days since he met her, he knew nothing about her and yet he’s so comfortable having her in his house. He can see through her eyes having the same feeling.

He does not usually help human, he wanted them to stand with their own feet. He let them solve their own problem. He wanted to live in their world as if he didn’t exist and yet he had a popular name for being the CEO of his own company. He doesn’t often give them attention, or lay them a help and yet he helped Sofia today, or worst he saved her. It was not him, but the other part of him who had been interested to her blood and her beauty. But he has to tame himself in order to keep the vampire blood of him secret.

“Mr. Goddard, can I ask you something?” she asked while they were walking and she’s following him.

“What?” he asked coldly. Now, he’s letting a woman ask him that he never allow before. He sighed.

“Are you living with somebody else? Your house was big and awesome.”

“No, I don’t—” He paused when a thought came up and turned around to face her. Sofia bumped her chest in the second time. She lost her balance and about to fall on the floor but he caught her back immediately. Suddenly, he regretted what he did. They now facing each other in a very short distance. She made him hold his breathe and stuck staring at her eyes.

Her eyes widened and gulped many times. That stupid action of him made her frozen. Staring at his eyes. Her soul is about to leave her body now.

Demire was triggered. He couldn’t move any and he didn’t know why. When his eyes met her bruised lips, he already knew himself he cannot scape the temptation anymore. So be it! He closed his eyes and let his lips touched hers.
