The word ‘beautiful’ was the first thing that Sofia muttered seeing the emulous landscape of the farm Demire brought her. “Who owned this farm? Such a wonderful place. They have rich crops,” she said roaming her eyes around the large area of the farm where livestock are raised and crops are grown healthy for use as food, fiber and fuel. There are people under the sun already working with their straw hats and long sleeves shirts to prevent their skins burned.
“I own this place,” Demire replied her that surprised Sofia and later drew her lips a smile.
“I should not ask about it, it’s not surprising. You are rich as hell.” She looked over the nearest tomato crops, took near to it and touched the ripe red one. “Can I have one?”
He smiled at her and nodded. He bought the whole farm when he got the money enough to purchase it, doubled the price. This is the first place he shared good memories with her first love, Angelique. He wanted to keep all the places, things and everything that Angelique left him with memories. He used to celebrate their first day being in a true relationship with the person he’d first fall in love with. This is one of the places that reminiscing the memories of him with her. He bought the farm only for Angelique, who once been the owner of this until was told to someone and finally he bought it.
Sofia wiped the tomato on the end of her blouse to clean it and bit the lower part. “Yum!” She looked so happy with her fruit.
“Do you want to ride a horse later after lunch?” This is the first activity that came to his mind. He loves horse back riding ever since he learned how to live like a normal human in this world. “There are a lot of activities to do here, you’ll never be bored.” He laid his hand over her. “Let’s check something to eat for lunch.”
Sofia smiled at him and accepted his hand. They reached the nearest food house, where village style of cooking was serving. They chose the table on the designed veranda to feel the farm vibes. “So, what are their specialties here.”
“I don’t often visit the farm, but I knew they are rolling different menu every year.” This is a real thing about Demire. He has to keep his identity a secret. He’s using different personality to buy properties. He is using different strategies to live without rumors about him. And if there any rumors built up, he has to clean that mess with the use of his intelligence and powers. They took the menu and select the food they like to eat. They grilled barbeque on their table for their lunch. After that, they went to the stable for horses.
The row divided equally for horse’s stalls and there were two men feeding them with hays. “Good afternoon, Ma’am, Sir!” the man with blonde beard greeted them. The farm was opened for tourist and there are advertisements to introduce their products and the beauty of the farm itself nation-wide.
“Welcome to Green Grass Vista Farm,” the other one greeted them mentioning the name of the farm, Green Grassy Vista. The two men are tall and had white skins than her just like Demire. Greeting them with smiles on their lips, is way of their courteous to show.
“I am Demire Goddard.” He has to mention his name for them to know who he was. The two men was surprised and immediately bowed their head for him.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Goddard. We expecting your visit today.” The blonde beard one. Their manager already told his visit today.
Demire nodded and walked towards the stalls to see the horses. “I want to borrow a horse, which one would you recommend me? I’m not a beginner but I want the calm and well-trained horse for Sofia.”
“For me? N-no, I can’t ride on it. I don’t know how.” She’s waving her hands for disapproval. She’s a bit tense now thinking she will ride a horse that she never had done before. Demire did not listen to her, instead he checked the horses inside each stall.
“I recommend Shaggy, an American Quarter Horse. He is a well-trained horse and experienced. His breed has been recognized many times for intelligence. We often recommend him for beginners and for tourist wanting a calm horse.”
“That would be nice,” Demire replied them.
Sofia sighed in disbelief. Because of that pursuing words from the two men on the stable, they borrowed Shaggy. Demire held her hand while they were walking on the lawn. The tension Sofia having now is getting more than she was feel when they were inside the stable and deciding what horse to borrow. “Demire, I told you, I don’t know how to ride a horse. I never ride one.” She sighed exasperatedly when they stopped in the middle of the fenced training area for horses or ‘paddock’.
“I know, and I understand. That’s why I am here.” Demire looked at her with a smile on his lips. The horse had wearing a saddle already. He climbed on it first before he laid his hand to her. When she accepted his hand, he lifted her up and brought her on his front in just a swift soft movement of his hand. Her cheeks turned reddish when her back touched his hard chest. She found herself with his hands on her waist holding the lead rope, attached to the halter. “Do you want to hold the rope?”
His warm breathe touched her nape gave her goosebumps and her heart sets between the thug.
