“I’m not ready yet Jeffery!” Alice cried out in pain while she laid on her bed.
“It’s going to be okay, my love.” Jeffrey replied as he wiped some of the sweat from her forehead.
Alice laid there in pain as she watched the love of her life prepare for the arrival of their daughter. Jeffrey was more worried for how their baby girl would come out. He never told Alice that he was a werewolf yet, and nor did he want to tell her. He was afraid that she would leave him for knowing that he was a beast. He wanted to leave her, he really did. He knew that she wasn’t safe loving a wolf. He also knew she wasn’t he’s mate, but he loved her to deeply to the point he was deciding to reject he’s mate if the time came. But when Alice confessed that she was pregnant with he’s child, he had no choice but to stay. He couldn’t leave he’s child in a human life, the baby would need a pack, a home.
“Jeffrey it hurts!” Alice cried out once again from the agonizing pain. She knew the day she found out she was going o be a mother that this day would come, but she didn’t realize it would be this painful. But Jeffrey on the other hand knew why she was in that much pain. She was human, and their baby was half wolf. Alice was a fragile girl ever since she was a child, but now birthing a half girl half beast, it’s going to take all her strength.
Jeffrey made some phone calls to get in some home nurses, ones that knew about the wolf kind. So, if he’s new born baby girl came out as a wolf they wouldn’t be startled.
“Come on Alice, you’re nearly there.” One of the nurses said.
Alice did as she was told and used her strength to bring her baby girl to the world. While Jeffrey sat beside her wiping the sweat from her forehead and holding her hand.
The sound of a newborns cry was it took for Alice to relax.
“Can I see her?” Alice asked as she lifted her head a bit. The nurse nodded and brought her little girl over to her.
There laid Adira in Alice’s arms. Small and beautiful.
“Hello Adira.” Alice greeted as she gave her a weak smile before she fell back on the bed.
“What’s happening?” Jeffrey asked worriedly as he got Adira out the emotionless arms of Alice.
The nurses didn’t reply but tried to wake Alice up. They used everything they could to get her conscious again. While Jeffrey sat outside the room with Adira as instructed.
After an hour went pass, one of the nurses came to Jeffrey and gave him a sad impression.
“I’m so sorry, she was just too fragile. She couldn’t take the pain of birthing a wolf.
Jeffrey got up and rushed into the room where laid the mother of he’s child. The love of he’s life.
He came up to her and started pushing the hair out of her closed, emotionless eyes.
“Please come back.” He whispered to her as he let tears rolled down he’s eyes.
He finally got up from he’s mourning position and walked over to one of the nurses.
“Here.” He said as he pushed, he’s daughter into the lady’s arms. And just like that he took off. That day was the first and last day he ever saw he’s daughter, Adira Stodle.
~17 years later ~
“Adira can you stop with this bad behaviour?” One of my foster parents asked me, or more like demanded from me.
I rolled my eyes at her as I tried to make my way out the door without her noticing.
“This is what I mean!” She yelled agitated. Well to be honest I would be more surprise if she ever talked to me in a nice tone.
“What are you talking about?” I asked as I tried to sound dumb at her comment. She knew I was going to leave, again. I knew I was going to leave, again. But we doesn’t know is where I always leave.
“You’ve got to stop running off. And start going back to school!” She yelled obviously angry at my behaviour. She rubbed her temples before continuing. “You’re 18 next month, Adira. You’ve got to start thinking about your future.”
“I am.” I replied as I inched further towards the front door.
“I can literally see you trying to leave right now!”
“Then close you eyes, and you won’t.” I shrugged as I kept inching further away from her.
“I can’t deal with this. I don’t even know why I try.”
“Me either!” I replied chirpy which made me chuckle a bit.
She sighed and just looked up at me in defeat. “Just be back by 10pm.”
“11” I argued
“10:30” She debated.
“Deal” I said as I ran out the door and into the nearby forest that laid next to our neighbourhood.
I ran deeper into the forest until I knew it was okay for me to shift into my white furred wolf.
When I saw it was safe for me to shift, I leaped in the air and landed on 4 paws. Right now, Nora my wolf was taking over. She was always overprotective when it came to me. Especially since I had no parents of my own. So, she took that role willingly, and now ever since she’s been my friend and kind of my mother in a weird way.
‘We’re late Adira.’ She scolded me.
‘None sense, we’re never late. Everyone else is just simply early.’ I replied through our mind-link.
