Chapter 2

EVIE POV My mouth flew open as my brain tried to comprehend the scene unfolding in front of me. Three large students, student over another one, kicking, punching and burning a pack of cigarettes on his body. The boy cries helplessly, begging them to stop. The more he screams for help, the more his bullies laugh, urging him to scream louder. Realizing I could have been subjected to this treatment as well… or worse. As tears blurred my vision, I looked around for any sign of professors or better yet the Dean as the scene isn’t that far from his office. But what did I expect from a man who watches pornography in school! Looking back at the others, no one made a move to step in. In fact they look as though it was a daily occurrence and that made my chest hurt more. Those who couldn’t bear to watch any longer, begin to walk away. I inch forward, stopping myself in time before I intervene. Getting in the middle of that might blow my cover and besides, I can help the poor boy by exposing the bullies like I intended. I turn to leave wishing there was a little privacy for me to film. However I have only taken a step when the boy screams again. Before I could stop to think about my action, I matched back to the crowd, shoving people out of the way. I shoved the first bully off, earning an audible gasp from the audience. I stalked toward the second one, shoving him harder, then the third. Taking off my jacket, I scoot down in front of the boy, wrapping the jacket around him. The mixture of surprise and relief on his face as he fell on my shoulder caused my chest to squeeze. I felt a shadow loaming over me, forcing my attention ahead. My heart leapt against my chest at the three guys standing in front of me. They were Alphas, I could tell by how big they were and from the aura oozing from them. Only Alphas have such auras that makes you want to cower in their presence and accept defeat at the mere sight of them. I swallowed nervously as they watched me—no… not watch. They were glaring at me as the recognition in their eyes reflected back at me. The hoarse voices around grew even louder. I expected them to come at me, but they did no such thing. Their stares lingered on me for several seconds like needle piercing through a hard surface. Then they exchange looks, walking away in perfect sync. The audience disappears one after the other too, leaning only one behind. When he comes forward, I cautiously shrink back, wrapping my arms protectively around the boy that’s still quivering in my arms. “Ethan, what the hell has gotten into you?” He demanded, dragging me to my feet. Damn! He’s strong. Puzzled, I stare at him, wondering who he is to my brother. Ethan never mentioned having friends so I didn’t bother to ask. “What?” I asked, freeing my wrist from his grasp. “Why did you get involved? They finally set their sight on someone else and you decide to play hero? This is unlike you.” He hissed, bending over to snatch my jacket from the other boy. “What is wrong with me? Or you mean what is wrong with all of you? Everyone just stood there and did nothing! Did you see what happened? They left, meaning if any of you have stood up to them then none of this would have gone on for too long.” “What?” He frowned, looking more confused. “Why are you talking in third person?” Realization hits me causing my mouth to snap shut. I snatched my jacket from him then turned around to wrap it around the boy once more, but Ethan's room-mate—I’m assuming because he did mention a roommate wouldn’t let me. “You know better than anyone that we haven’t seen the last of them. I thought you were never coming back? Why did you? goddess Ethan, they’re going to kill you.” He sounded fearful, which only adds to my confusion. “Did they bully you too?” I asked, letting him drag me away. “They terrorize everyone. I’m guessing you suffered a concussion from the fall.” I stopped in my tracks. “What fall?” He gives me a look that proves his point if I was my brother. I have so many questions that I need answers to, but I haven’t figured out how to ask them yet without blowing my cover. “Stay in class until the period is over. As usual, try to leave with the professor and offer to carry his materials to his office, that should save you for now.” He instructed, walking away before I could ask anymore questions. Watching him leave, I went into the classroom to attend my first class. While in class I couldn’t pay attention, I kept thinking about what Ethan room-mate said. My brother never mentioned anything about a fall, meaning he didn’t tell us everything. Despite what I witnessed earlier, I wasn’t afraid of the big bad Alphas. If they dare come at me, I will show them what I’m made of. I snapped out of my thoughts the moment the professor announced that class was over. Again my mind drifted to the instructions given to me earlier, I decided nothing was going to happen to me. Pulling out Ethan’s class schedule to know what class I’m having next, I step into the hallway. Once I was able to read my brother’s doctor handwriting and figure out my next class, I was about to look up when I suddenly trip. My body plunged forward, and I crashed onto the ground. Wincing from pain, I turn around, about to get up, only to get knocked down by an Italian smelly boot of leather. “I must say Ethan Moonstone, you’ve got a lot of guts.” The voice came from above me. Despite the pain throbbing in my side, I twisted, laying on my back. My eyes went wide with fear as my attacker turned out to be the three Alphas. One of them reached down and grabbed me by the collar like I weighed nothing. My feet dangled as he brought me to his face, only to drop me back. I landed on my butt, tears stinging my eyes from the pain. “Boys, I think it’s time for another fun.” Another one said, and they exchanged sinister grins. As the first two turn away, the third grab me, dragging me on the floor along with them. My heart was no longer in my chest, I could feel it in my mouth trying to escape. I was flung into an empty classroom, and when the door shut with a loud thud, I started to wish I had listened to Ethan’s roommate in the first place. They tower over me, cornering me into a wall. I opened my mouth even though I had no idea what I was going to say next. All thoughts of words disappeared from my brain as the first hit slammed into my face. Before I could recover from that, another one came from behind me. I fell forward, whimpering from pain as I tasted blood. “The nerve of you to f*****g show up after reporting us to the board!” I couldn’t tell which was which as I was too busy trying to get away from them. My hair was pulled, sending my head backward. I felt his face against mine as he came to whisper in my ear. “Say your last words, Moonstone.” I never got the chance to as his fist slammed against my chest. I couldn’t hold in the cries, my breasts throb and I let out a scream!
