Chapter Ten I woke up on Phil’s couch. The clock by the front door said 11:00, and the AC was on already. It was freakin’ February, and we had to use air conditioning in the morning. I threw off the blanket and sat up. I could hear Phil whistling somewhere in the near distance. Probably in the kitchen. Last night—this morning—I hadn’t told Phil anything when I arrived. He had shown me the couch and handed me a pillow and a blanket. I lay down, and that was all she wrote. Now I grabbed my phone and texted Hayword. “I couldn’t sleep. I’m not drinking.
