I shook my head, “No...she didn’t. She does think that the council lets Black Path get away with s**t because someone...on the council thinks...someone...and mind you she means herself….deserves to have a shitty life.” My Uncle Bjourn gaped, “No. We monitor them closely. We will not let Eric be betrayed. Ashley met Alpha Theo, but he’s a good guy.” I nodded, “I know. We have a partial Hackura in his pack that mated to a warrior. Are they still reporting?” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “Gunner tore through everything with Alpha Theo’s pack. Their biggest scandals are Alpha Theo pulling out of the alliance with Blue Moon after Lucas killed his brother. He didn’t part with Eric though. Their other scandal is that he had a son before he met his mate. Lux is a good kid though, and gets along with the mate, and their kids. Rumor is Lux and his next oldest sibling. He and his brother plan to take over the pack together. There’s no tension. We took a HARD look at Alpha Theo. He’s above board.” Micah frowned, “Ashley said she liked him. She thought he was a straight shooter. It can’t be him. She’s not a good liar. Watching her outright lie….is actually funny. Evade….she’s like a fairy but outright lie….awful. She looks around. Her face turns red. Her voice sounds like everything she says is a question when she lies.” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “We will look at the others, but I just don’t see it. Maybe someone lied to her.” I snorted, “I think they lie to her often. We need Alpha Theo to check in on Black Path. Ashley stopped the male lead warriors sister from being raped. She seems to believe….as do they all that Ashley will be punished for it.” Uncle Bjourn frowned, “Of course. I can’t leak specifics, but from what Eric says….Alpha Theo loves taking trips to talk to Ashley.”
Haley popped in. She smiled, “You guys look FAR to f*****g serious. The hunt is on gentlemen. Go hunt down your mates.” I laughed, “Excuse me?” Haley smiled, “Ask them.” She popped away. Uncle Bjourn clapped, “I love when she does this. Cassie is out there dressed up as...something. You have to catch her.” I ran out of the castle with everyone behind me. My dad snorted, “Your fox is running around son.” I titled my head, “She’s dressed like a fox?” My dad smirked. My mom cackled, “A sexy fox.” I smiled. I loved hunting foxes. I chased Cassie around the realm. I was going to catch her. She was popping all around. I could hear other men looking for their mates. Some had caught theirs. Theirs’s couldn’t f*****g pop away. Cassie had ignored me when I ordered her to come to me. I smiled. Defiant tonight. Leaning fairy tonight it was then.
I eventually caught her near my mom’s family’s place. She was in a tree. Fairy side indeed. She made me climb up the tree. We lost ourselves in each other. Cassie’s eyes were drifting shut by the time I was through with her. She was basically asleep when I portaled us home. I fell asleep quickly. I woke up and Cass was still out. I was going to let her sleep today. I took a quick run around the area. I’d just topped the hill to see a commotion by my house. My dad came running up with a key. They threw the door open and Cassie’s screams reached me. I portaled into my bedroom. My dad was at the door of our bedroom. I grabbed Cassie and yelled at her to wake up. My dad's eyes were wide. He’d calmed down though now that he could see it was just a bad dream. Cassie jumped out of bed. I told my dad I had her. Cassie was worried about Melanie for some reason. I could see she needed to know. She’d had a dream that Melanie was hurt...or a zombie….Ok.
Cassie wanted to ask Levi to go check on Melanie because he knew what she looked like. I winced. Levi couldn’t go because of the promise he’d made to Tristan. Cassie was not happy about any of this. I stepped out and called Hendrix. He answered, “Hey man….I was ready to break the damn door down. Is Cass ok?” I sighed, “Well...not really. I need you to go to New York. Eric has a guy there watching a girl named Melanie McAlister. I need you to make sure that girl is ok.” Hendrix said, “The girl that two whole people I know have met?” I said, “That’s the one.” Hendrix said, “The girl Cassie herself has never met.” I said, “Yes. Her. Go and get back as soon as you can. A picture wouldn’t hurt.” Hendrix said, “I’m on it.” I walked back to Cass and told her the plan. We waited for word.
Hendrix came in giving me a look. He sat down and told us Melanie was fine. He couldn't get a good picture of her though. I frowned. He said she was busy. Always going. Always had something to do. That sounded right. Cassie was still worried though. I let Hendrix out the front door. I turned to face Cass. She told me she didn’t have a good feeling. Oh f**k. That was never good. Her and her mom….Her mom was more dire, but Cass was intuitive. If she said she had a bad feeling. We needed to guard Melanie McAlister. We’d keep in contact. We’d make sure she was ok.
Cassie changed the subject asking about Ashley. I told her about the mission. The comparison of Ashley and Melanie came up. Cassie wasn’t wrong. There were similarities. Well, that we knew of. We could be totally off. Cassie hadn’t even met Melanie. I barely knew anything about the girl. I cringed at her familiarity with Melanie’s brother. Jase. She said he was just a friend. Yeah, now. He didn't used to be just a friend. She pointed out that wouldn’t have happened if I’d been at the coronation. More demons would die…..they would pay.
My bachelor party rolled around. I had no idea what we were doing. Hendrix led me into the gym. I frowned, “My bachelor party is in the gym?” Hendrix laughed, “No. Milana had the gym cleared. She said we MUST check out the girls locker room.” I raised an eyebrow, “Angus did mention something about that.” We walked in and I nearly fell over. Hendrix started laughing. I actually did too. I said, “She encased….her heart….in glass!” Hendrix said, “I warned you. I WARNED you the fiery redhead would have a plan. You’re lucky that it isn't in your damn office.” I snorted, “I’m not the one who needed the reminder.” We left and joined a large group of men on a hill. All of Cassie’s brothers were there. Hendrix handed me a weapon. He smiled, “And now we hunt.” I laughed. We split up. EJ was with me. Hendrix and Alexander were together. When we got away from the group I killed my first fox. It wasn’t as fun as catching my sexy mate dressed as a fox.
EJ said, “Cass said you knew about Alexander.” I nodded, “I won’t say anything.” EJ nodded, “Maybe the more of us that know….we can fix it.” I raised an eyebrow, “Seems easy to fix. Alexander pops to Melanie.” EJ sighed, “The promise we made doesn’t permit that.” I frowned, “So talk to Drake McAlister. Explain the situation. I’m sure he wants to see his little girl enough….that he’d jump for joy about the plan.” EJ rubbed his head. I frowned, “You ok man?” He shrugged, “Headache.” I let the subject drop. He didn’t look good. We kept hunting. We went back to the group at the assigned time. My blood was humming. Alexander snapped us a fully stocked bar. I laughed. My Uncle said, “Between the fairies….people will want bars everywhere. No one wants the ocean bar to leave….no one will want this bar to leave.” I said, “Ocean bar?” My uncle nodded. That reeked of Haley.
We drank for a few hours when Hendrix said, “Alright….it’s fighting time.” I smiled. We all enjoyed a good fight. I nodded at Alexander, “Let’s go.” Alexander smiled. The other guys split up. Alexander and I both got shots in on each other. The guy was just good at fighting. Eventually we called it. I smiled, “You’re damn good.” Alexander nodded, “So are you.” I snorted, “I know someone who would give you a run for your money.” I did too. Ashley and Alexander fighting would be epic. I don’t think she’d run into a challenge like him before. Alexander smiled, “Who?” I sighed, “If only I could tell you.” Alexander laughed and shook his head. Micah linked me, “Ashley? That would be a hell of a fight.” I nodded, “Entertaining for sure.” We drank some more then of course we hunted again. I added several more foxes to the group I’d gotten previously.
We ended the night with drinking around a fire and singing. All our blood was pumping. Alexander popped to the gym. Hendrix snorted, “That guy could get SO MUCH tail right now.” I shrugged, “He doesn’t want to.” Hendrix laughed, “Why?” I shrugged. Hendrix said, “I don’t buy it. You know. You know things. Those two too.” He pointed at Uncle Bjourn and EJ. Both smiled at him. I laughed, “You try to figure out that mystery. I’m off.” I took off heading for Cassie. EJ faked throwing up. My Uncle said, “Oh shut it. I’ve heard your parents going at it like wild animals. I’ve felt it too.” EJ gagged again, but this time….i think it was real. I had to laugh.
I got to our house and felt our connection Cass was in the bathroom. I slunk into the house. Music was playing and I could smell the bubbles. A bubble bath. I moved quietly until I was in front of her. Her eyes were closed. Well I’ll be damned. After all this time, I was going to sneak up on her twice in the same week. I dropped my shorts and climbed into the other end of the tub. I went under water and kissed her n****e. She shrieked. I surfaced smiling. She raised an eyebrow, “I hope you’re happy! There are bubbles...EVERYWHERE!” I smirked, “There will be more in a second, My Duchess. Good thing I know someone who can snap it all dry later. When I care.” I attacked her lips. I flipped our positions. I commanded, “Ride me, my duchess.” She smiled and did as I said. When we came. She popped away from me after she snapped the bathroom clean. I jumped out of the tub.
I chuckled, “Dangerous game, My duchess.” She popped in front of me. I told her, “No popping.” She took off running. I chased her around the house. I caught her fairly quickly. I f****d her on every surface in our home. We didn’t fall asleep until well after the sun came up.
The day of our wedding finally arrived. I couldn’t keep my hands off Cassie. She was going to be my wife. By the end of the day...she would be my wife. It spurred me into action. I couldn't bring myself to be anywhere but inside her. Eventually, Cassie wanted to eat. We ate and stepped outside. There was an orgy. I loved weddings in this realm. Cassie ran back inside the house and I was back inside her in seconds. Eventually someone banged on the door. Angus yelled, “Come on Cayden! You have to get ready!” I rolled my eyes. I slowly pulled out of Cass and kissed her. She got into the shower. I walked outside with my eyebrows raised, “Ten minutes. I need ten minutes to get ready. Cass can snap herself ready. You cockblocked me out of twenty damn minutes.” Angus rolled his eyes, “You’ve been f*****g her all damn day!” I smiled, “It’s never enough, little brother.” Angus rolled his eyes. I walked into my parents’ house and showered in my old room. I grabbed my nice slacks for the wedding.
My Aunt Astrid walked in. She smiled, “I might have added something to your ceremony.” I laughed, “Oh yeah? Does Cass know?” Aunt Astrid nodded, “She does not know. I want you and Cassie to do the ceremonial archery piece of setting a boat on fire.” I said, “The last people to do that were…” Astrid smiled, “My parents. Yes. I think it should be a tradition with the commander and his mate. Plus, I know you always loved that story.” I hugged her, “Thanks Aunt Astrid.” She smiled, “Of course. I love both you and Cassie, Cayden. I am so glad that you two are together.” I smiled, “I’m so damn happy we are together. That she is mine. Forever.” Aunt Astrid smiled, “You’re quite the hero to the Cambridge boys. My husband and all his brothers adore having Cassie here. Titus practically worships the ground you walk on.” I laughed but she seemed serious.
My dad walked in, “It’s time.” I smiled, “Let’s go.” I was more than ready for Cass to be my wife. We headed out to Cassie and I’s spot. I loved that she wanted to have our wedding here. The way was lit with candles in glass jars. I was standing in the exact spot I’d seen Cass for the first time in. The memory played in my mind. I couldn’t help but smile. Cassie’s brothers all walked up and sat down. I nodded to them. Haley popped in and my excitement doubled. Cass was on the way. I swayed back and forth waiting. Cassie and her dad topped the hill. I couldn’t look anywhere else. She was stunningly beautiful. When she made it to….I couldn’t focus on anything but her beauty. The ceremony flew by. I couldn’t help but be excited when Uncle Bjourn handed us the bows. Cassie was confused. I smiled at her. I knew she knew how to shoot. I was sure Aunt Astrid ran this by Haley. Lexi Daniels had taught Cassie how to shoot a bow. I knew she still practiced here on occasion. She was a decent shot.
She popped us to the ocean. She told me I was lucky she knew how to shoot. I didn’t bother to tell her this was sprung on me too. I absolutely would have if she didn’t know how to shoot. I’d get out of trouble like that fast because it interfered with my plans. I yelled out the command to get ready then we both shot our arrows on my command. Our arrows struck the inside of the boat at the same time. I lead our people in a cheer, and because I couldn't stand it any longer. I grabbed Cassie by the waist and kissed her hard. Cassie Crawford. She was Cassie Crawford now. Mine. Everyone around us was losing it. I focused on Cassie. She didn’t mind having s*x around other people. She didn’t want to be completely naked though. I didn’t care about that at all. I told her to snap us a blanket. I didn’t want her to be covered in sand. I lifted up her dress and buried myself back inside her. My wife. I loved her little gasp every time I filled her up. I loved everything about her. I knew people had left. We were alone, but I couldn’t stop. My Duchess was my wife. Mine. All mine. Forever. Eventually….I had to stop myself. I rested my head on hers. I looked into her eyes. She was killing me. She wanted to stay out here too.
Her light shot into me. I couldn’t stop myself from coming again. There was a euphoric sense around me. Damn...She’d shared her light with me again. We were twice light bound. I knew not everyone went into the ribbon that was twice light bound. I guess we’d see if we were in it soon. Micah linked me, “You guys gonna make it up here? Ever? Her dad and all her brothers...including my mate might have a heart attack. You can’t do that to me Cayden. I’m so nice to you.” I laughed, “We are coming.” I pulled out of Cassie and told her we should make an appearance. I called her by her married name for the first time. I loved the sound of it. Cassie Crawford. It sounded right. She asked about my watch. I told her it was a present from Ashley. I’d forgotten Cassie’s present was at our house. We ran up to the reception. Cassie asked if I was ready for dress number two. God she was going to try to kill me. The second dress was….fuck me. I pushed her against a column. I was seconds from taking her again. Micah linked me, “We can hear you Cayden….ALL OF US. Come on….I want to get laid tonight. Help a brother in law out. If we hear you f**k her…..then Max will NOT be in the mood later. I AM IN THE MOOD CAYDEN!” I pushed back from her. I linked Micah back, “Then tell Hendrix to announce us.” Micah said, “So done. Thank you Cayden. You’re the best!” I rolled my eyes.
Hendrix announced me as a Duke. I faltered. Oh god. I was a Duke of the Hackura now. That was odd. I looked over at Cassie beside me. She looked so happy. I took her hand and led her into the banquet hall. I loved her so damn much and now she was my wife. I couldn't help but smile.
