CHAPTER NINE “Rise and shine, recruits!” Corsair’s eyes shot open, body taut from the shock of hearing the booming voice. Others in the dormitory hurried out of bed, throwing their covers back and standing to listen to the officer. “I said rise and shine, Sedrid!” Realising that he was being addressed, he reached for the sheets. He was too disoriented to notice that he was dangerously close to the edge of the bed and found his paw closing on air. He felt himself lurch over the side and yelped as he plummeted to the floorboards, scrambling up to his hind paws with his sheets still draping from his shoulders.
