Shelly's POV
I sat beside Mellisa in the hospital room. The entire place was gloomy after the battle. I never really met Ariel but her betrayal cut deep in the pack. We won by an inch and so many wolves were mourning their own.
Mellisa's parents were in the next room with the unconscious former Beta, Aiden's father. Fred was surprisingly nowhere to be found.
“I'm so sorry you didn't get to rest, Shelly. We had such a long journey and a huge mess.”
I shook my head and gave her a sympathetic look. She looked so torn and worn out, utterly drained.
“Don't ever apologise, okay? With just spending such a short time in the pack, I'm at so much more peace than ever before.”
The cats wrapped themselves around her, she held them to herself tightly.
