Chapter 11
Jenn’s intention had been to see Meg into an ambulance and on her way to Laurel Hill General before checking in with her team and then returning to the basement of the juicing plant, but a rumbling from below ground put paid to that plan. Members of the National Guard came boiling up out of the building, much like the ants had done. Sir Richard was in their midst, dragging Nicki by her arm, while Captain Sheridan had Nicki’s mom.
“Get away!” Sir Richard shouted. “They’re caving in the tunnels. The building is going to go down!”
So instead of remaining with the National Guardsmen and -women patrolling the perimeter, Jenn went with Meg to the hospital, and waited while she had surgery…
