Chapter Fifteen

Kylah's POV

*First Day of University*

It's been a few days since mine and Nick's mating and marking. It's not unheard of for mated pairs to go to school bearing each other's marks. When we arrived at school, I was met with several stares and whispers from the other students. It was mainly shocked looks and expressions when Georgina walked up to me with a snarky look on her face. I knew I was in for some trouble. Now mind you, I'm wearing normal jeans and a long sleeve shirt as it's a little chilly out since it is December after all and this would be the coldest it'll get in Texas right now. Georgina approached me and Nick as we were walking into the building. "Are you sure you're his mate? I don't see you bearing his mark." she asked. I looked at her and back to Nick, and he slowly moved my hair out of the way, revealing the black wolf howling at a silver moon mark on my neck. She looked none to please at the mark, then Nick turned his head revealing the deep purple wolf mark on his neck. It was only then I realized I still hadn't shifted yet. I leaned into Nick's ear and whispered, "I'd like to shift later, if possible."

Nick's POV

Me, Kylah, Andrew, and Serenity walked into the lecture all of our first day of university. Typically, wolves will go to the same college in an effort to continue to be close to their packs. Hence, Georgina is here as also. My mind is still reeling from when Kylah said she wanted to shift later. I'm excited about seeing her wolf. I look over to see her and Serenity busy taking notes while Andrew and I are busy keeping the wondering eyes of the other guys in the room off our girls. This college is all wolves and, from what I can see, a lot are unmated. Once class is over, we head back to the packhouse and the girls disappear to only Goddess knows where, while Andrew and I meet up with our fathers to start learning the ropes of pack business because we will be taking over once we graduate from college. While we are in the office, we hear a lot of commotion going on out in the foyer/living area of the house. We walk out to see Kylah and Serenity trying to keep the door closed, and they're using all of their weight. I asked, "what's going on?" Kylah looked at me and I could tell she'd been crying, and I saw a red mark on her face.

Kylah's POV

All Serenity and I wanted to do was sit in the foyer/living area and read our books and sip our tea, but my idiotic brother, drunk off his ass, came busting through the door or, well, at least tried to. By the time we reached the door, he had made it inside and slapped my face right as I used all my strength to push him outside the door and Serenity and I braced ourselves against it right as the guys walked out of the office. I didn't hear what Nick asked. I just look at him and see his eyes go black. I heard Andrew say "move from the door and get behind us." We do as we are asked, and the door caves in and my brother falls on his face.
