5 She Saw Everything

Then suddenly, it hit me. I never asked him why he came to the school in the first place. My eyes widened instantly. God… How could I forget something so important? I had been too distracted by his presence, too shaken by the way he looked at me, the way his voice wrapped itself around my heart like old memories refusing to die. But what exactly was Richard doing here? A cold feeling crept down my spine. Does he have a child in this school? My heartbeat quickened violently at the thought. No… No, no, no. Please don’t let it be what I’m thinking. What if his child is Barry? “Oh my God…” I whispered under my breath, panic rising inside me. My mind immediately began connecting impossible dots, each one more terrifying than the last. Richard and Barry… no, that couldn’t be possible, could it? I quickly shook my head. No. It can’t be Barry. But then another thought crept in, quieter… trickier. What if it is? What if fate had been laughing at me this whole time? A nervous chill swept through my body. I stood up from my chair and began pacing around the office, my heels clicking restlessly against the floor. Maybe he was here for business. Yes… business. It had to be business. Anything but Barry. Still, the fear sitting heavily in my chest refused to disappear, and with every passing second, the silence around me felt more dangerous than before. Just then, a sharp knock echoed against my office door, pulling me out of my thoughts. My heart skipped. Who could that be? "Come in," I called, trying to sound calm. The door slowly swung open. "Good morning, Ma." I looked up. "How are you today, sexy? You look beautiful." The moment I heard that word, my stomach tightened. Sexy. There was only one person reckless enough to call me that. I turned fully toward the door. Barry. He stood there looking impossibly confident in a well-fitted outfit that somehow made him appear even more charming than usual. A mischievous smile played on his lips as his eyes locked onto mine. For a brief second, memories of the previous day flashed through my mind, making my pulse quicken. I quickly pushed the thoughts away. "What can I do for you, Barry?" I asked, forcing a professional tone. "Are you having any difficulties understanding the topic we discussed during our last lesson?" I prayed my voice sounded normal. I prayed he couldn't see the panic hidden behind my composed expression. Barry chuckled softly and stepped further into the office. "Oh, no, Ma. No difficulties at all." "Then why are you here?" I asked sharply. His smile widened. "Actually, I couldn't sleep last night." I frowned. "And how exactly is that my concern?" His gaze never left mine. "Because you were the reason." My breath caught. "What?" "I couldn't stop thinking about you," he said quietly. "You were on my mind all night. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw your face." My fingers tightened around the pen I was holding. "Barry..." "If I had your number, I would have called just to hear your voice," he continued, taking another step closer. "But I didn't. So the moment morning came, I rushed here." The room suddenly felt smaller. The air is heavier. His eyes softened as he looked at me. "I just wanted to see you," he murmured. "To make sure you were okay... and maybe steal a glimpse of that beautiful face that kept me awake all night." My heart hammered violently against my chest. "Barry, are you still aware that I am your lecturer?" I snapped, folding my arms tightly across my chest. "Because if you continue this ridiculous habit of flirting with me, I won't hesitate to report you to the authorities. Consider this your final warning." A slow smile spread across his face, the kind that made my nerves tighten. "Then report me," he said calmly. "I'd gladly accept any punishment if it means it comes from you, darling. For you, I'd submit myself without hesitation." I stared at him in disbelief. "You are completely out of your mind, Barry." "Yes," he replied without missing a beat. "Out of my mind for you." His voice dropped lower, more intense. "You have no idea how much I love you... how much I want to be with you. I'd do anything, Sofi. Anything." Something in the way he said it sent an uncomfortable chill down my spine. I instinctively took a step backward. Barry, however, took a step forward. Then another. And another. The distance between us vanished. "Barry, don't—" Before I could finish, he reached me. His hand brushed against my arm as he leaned closer. My heart pounded violently against my ribs. "Please stop this." But he wasn't listening. His eyes were fixed entirely on me. The next second, his lips crashed against mine. The shock of it froze me for a brief moment before anger surged through my veins. Without thinking, I raised my hand and slapped him across the face. The sharp sound echoed through the office. "Get out!" I shouted, pointing toward the door. "Get out of my office right now!" For a moment, silence filled the room. Barry slowly turned his head back toward me. Instead of anger, a strange smile curled across his lips. A smile that unsettled me far more than any rage could have. "You can do whatever you want to me," he said quietly. "Hate me. Punish me. Report me." He took another step closer. "But I will never stop loving you." My pulse quickened. "There is no future for us, Barry." His smile widened. "That's where you're wrong, baby." The words came out almost like a promise... or perhaps a threat. "You are mine." A cold shiver ran down my spine. "And you will always be mine." The office suddenly felt smaller. The air heavier. "There will be no escape from me." Before I could react, he reached out and gripped the back of my head, pulling me toward him. I struggled against him. "Barry!" Then— The office door swung open. The sound was so sudden that both of us froze. Standing at the doorway was Chloe. Barry's girlfriend. Her hand remained on the doorknob. The color drained from her face. Her eyes moved from Barry... to me... and back again. For a long, terrifying second, nobody spoke. The silence was suffocating. And then Chloe's expression changed. What appeared in her eyes made my stomach drop. She had seen everything.
