3 The Day My Heart Betrayed Me

1116 Words
“Wow, Richy…” My voice trembled as I looked at him, years of buried pain clawing their way back to the surface. “You left me in the dark. One day you were there, and the next… you were gone. No goodbye. No explanation. Nothing.” I swallowed hard, but the ache in my chest only deepened. “For five whole years, I waited for you. Five years, Richard.” I let out a shaky laugh that sounded more like a cry. “Every morning I woke up hoping to hear from you. Every night I went to bed staring at my phone like a fool, praying it would ring.” My eyes burned with unshed tears. “But you never called. Not even once.” I turned away from him for a moment, trying to steady myself, but the memories came rushing back too fast, too painfully. “You broke me, Richy.” My voice cracked completely now. “Do you even know what that did to me? I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t think straight. I walked around like an empty shell, like a ghost trapped inside my own body.” A tear finally slipped down my cheek despite my efforts to hold it back. “There were nights I hated myself so much… nights I almost ended my life because the pain of losing you felt unbearable.” A faint smile touched my lips, but it carried no happiness, only sorrow. “I loved you so much back then. ” I looked down, pressing my trembling fingers together as I tried desperately to hide how those feelings were beginning to stir again. “Maybe a part of me still does.” Silence stretched painfully between us before I finally lifted my hand and showed him the ring resting on my finger. “But it’s too late now, Richard.” My voice softened into something heartbreaking. “I’m married.” I forced myself to meet his eyes. “You can’t have me again. No matter how much my heart wants to remember us… my life doesn’t belong to you anymore.” I'm sorry. “But, Sofi… my heart still belongs to you.” His voice dropped into a whisper, rough with emotion, the kind that crawled beneath my skin and settled deep in my chest. “I still love you so much, darling. Not for one second did my heart ever leave you. I never stopped loving you… never.” My breath caught as he stepped closer, his eyes burning into mine with a longing so raw it almost hurt to look at him. “Leave him,” he murmured softly, reaching for my trembling hands. “Come away with me. Let’s disappear somewhere far from all this pain. We can start over, just you and me. I’ll take care of you, baby. I swear I will.” “Leave who?” I snapped instantly, though my voice shook beneath the weight of his words. “Your husband.” His jaw tightened, anger flashing briefly across his handsome face. “I heard the way he treats you, Sofi… and the thought of another man hurting you drives me insane. Every night I imagine you crying alone, and it kills me inside. I can’t stand it anymore. Let me get you out of there.” He moved even closer until I could feel the warmth of his body surrounding me, his scent intoxicating and painfully familiar. Slowly, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me against his chest, holding me as though he was terrified I might disappear again. “Come with me, sweetheart,” he whispered against my hair. “My heart has never stopped beating for you… not once.” The world around me faded the moment his lips crashed onto mine. The kiss was desperate, hungry, filled with years of pain, longing, and unfinished love. My knees weakened instantly as his hands tightened around me possessively, like a man reclaiming the only thing he had ever truly loved. Heat rushed through my veins, and for a moment, I forgot every reason I had for pushing him away. All I could feel was him. And the terrifying truth that a part of my heart had never stopped loving him either. His lips crashed against mine with a hunger that stole every ounce of resistance from me. I was supposed to push him away, supposed to remind myself why I shouldn’t let this happen again— but the moment his fingers brushed against my skin, my thoughts scattered like smoke in the wind. The kiss deepened, slow and dangerously familiar, and before I realized it, I was kissing him back just as desperately. His hands roamed over me possessively, as though he still remembered every curve of my body by heart. A shiver crawled down my spine when his lips trailed from my mouth to my neck, leaving warm, lingering kisses that made my knees weak. “Sofi…” he whispered against my skin, his voice low and sinful. “I knew you still had a soft spot for me, baby.” My breath caught in my throat. His fingers tightened gently around my waist while his lips brushed against my ear. “And trust me,” he murmured, “I’m going to make you feel so good tonight that you’ll never forget it.” The way he said my name destroyed the little self-control I had left. Heat rushed through my body instantly, leaving me dizzy and breathless. My heart pounded wildly against my chest, my hands trembling as old memories came flooding back—the way he used to touch me, the way he knew exactly how to make my body betray me, the way he always left me craving more. I hated how badly I still wanted him. But standing there in his arms, with his lips on my skin and his voice melting into my ears like temptation itself, wanting him felt impossible to resist. He then went for my office door and locked it, and looking straight into my eyes, he ordered me to strip. “And I didn't argue. I was far too gone. Too turned on. too obsessed. I stripped immediately; He stared at me with his mouth open in disbelief, and my heart raced. Walking close to me, he grabbed my thighs, rough and demanding; lifted me like I weighed nothing; and set me down on my cold glass desk. His hands were already on my hips, dragging me forward across the smooth glass surface of my desk until my thighs hit the edge. My breath hitched as his fingers moved slowly under my skirt.
