    The drive to the police station was quiet. I stared out the window, a numbness slowly coming over me as each house passed. Grey, Luke, and Riley all stayed silent, allowing me to slip into the back of my mind. I wasn't sure what they were thinking, but I couldn't believe I hadn't been able to help John more.     We pulled up at the station, and the others got out.     I wasn't sure if I could face John, but I decided I needed to.
