Gale spent the next few days living as though she were on a cloud. Each time her eyes caught the ring on her finger, she found herself drawn back to the way that Broin had spoken to her and the words that he had said. Smiling, she brushed her fingers over the polished stones. There were stories about how he had met her mother and eventually asked her to marry him. The memories of these stories flooded her as she sat on the cot, studying the blue and red gems with fondness.
Broin, having been sitting nearby, watched Gale with a gentle smile. Seeing the look on her face and how happy she was, it was enough for him.
