    Nevaeh could see Sébastien was trying to talk to her, but she couldn’t hear anything except the pounding th-thunp th-thump th-thump hammering in her ears and choking her throat. The words he spoke did not register, as they too seemed to sink within the pit of her stomach.     Levi collapsed to his knees in front of her, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her out of whatever hell was siphoning her senses away. “Did you hear Sébastien?
