Malcolm was anxious and on edge. He had a sinking feeling that something was going to go wrong that evening. He just didn’t know what. Fortunately, the years he’d spent perfecting an impenetrable façade enabled him to engage in dull conversation ranging from the usual – weather, sports and politics, to the unusual – fetishes, with the “business associates” he was entertaining in his apartment tonight as they entered the elevator in his building.
