My heart hammered in my chest as I took in a ragged breath. The sound of branches breaking behind me had my feet picking up even more as I ran towards the clearing in the forest just ahead.
‘He’s getting closer.’ Lena rushed, her words causing me to almost go stumbling forward.
‘Don’t tell me that!’
I quickly regained my composure and continued to push forward.
‘Just stay focused, you’ve got this!’ She rushed, and I held onto her words desperately. This time I was going to beat him.
