I tilted my head back, peering up at Carter who was now hovering above me. “Where did you come from?” I asked surprised, wondering how he could sneak up on me so easily. He was pure muscle and had some of the biggest feet I’ve ever seen.
“Downstairs. Once we were done, I ran up here as fast as I could.” His lips pulled into an effortless smile. The warmth of his body was already seeping into my back from how close he was to me right now.
“The code is 7654.” He whispered beside my ear while typing the code into the keypad, making it beep before the click of the door unlocking echoed down the hallway.
