From the moment we stepped out of Mr.Hayes office, I felt it. This shift in Carter. There was this undeniable tension that began to crawl across my skin, making me squirm beside him as we walked towards his room.
I bit down on my bottom lip, hoping to god this wasn’t just in my head. He said after we talked to the Elders, that’s when he would mark me. We’re done talking with the Elders now…and every second that passes feels like torture at this point.
