Chapter Twenty-Three Coming Home DANNI’S POV After a week stuck in the hospital, I came home today. It felt different this time. So much had happened when I was stuck in that hospital bed. Not just for me but for everyone. I stood at the front door taking everything in. The front door still creaked the same way. JJ’s shoes were still scattered in the hallway like landmines. Mum’s voice still carried from the kitchen, fussing about dinner like it was a national emergency. But me? I wasn’t the same. Not after everything. Not after choosing myself for once. Mum was the first to see me. "Oh, baby—" She rushed forward, arms wrapping around me so tight it made my ribs ache. But I let her. I breathed her in — lavender and laundry soap and home — and let myself sink into it.
