I didn’t want to call Ayden, but after what I was feeling, I knew he needed to be the one to contact. It was too late to contact Jesslyn and plus, I didn't want Alias to find out. As I paced back and forth in the living room, I heard a car pull in my driveway. I walked to the front door and opened it. Ayden walked in a few seconds later with a worried look on his face.
"What's wrong?" He asked me.
I shut the door and glanced at him.
"What's wrong?" He asked me.
I sniffled again, wiping my eyes and lifted my shirt up. He glanced down at my stomach, then shrugged his shoulder.
"What am I looking at?" He questioned with a confused look on his face.
I smacked my lips before moving closer to him.
"Touch it." I told him.
"Touch what?"
"Ayden, my stomach. Touch it."
He placed his hand against my stomach and the same thing I felt before happened again. It was like small movements and at first, he squinted his eyes. When the movement happened again, his widened.
"It's moving." He told me.
"Ayden, it shouldn't be moving at two weeks. It should be a f*****g egg."
Ayden pulled his hand back and took his phone out.
"What are you doing?" I asked him.
"Calling my mom." He told me. "She'll be able to check for you."
"Ayden, I don't want anybody to know about this."
"She knows. I told her, already."
I put my shirt down and shook my head at him.
"Why would you do that?" I asked him. "You didn't have the right to do that!"
Ayden held his finger up at me and turned around, holding the phone to his ear.
"Mom." He said. "Yeah, I need a favor. Are you still at the clinic?"
I shook my head and walked into the kitchen. When I turned around, Ayden was right behind me.
"Yeah, I need to bring Natalie in. She's feeling movement already. Yeah, I can bring her in right now. Alright... Alright, bye."
Ayden put the phone in his pocket and turned to me.
"Let's get you ready." He told me.
"You're f*****g unbelieveable." I told him. "You know I don't want nothing to do with this pregnancy and you're not even listening."
"Natalie, if you're farther along than I think, then you couldn't even kill it if you tried."
I rolled my eyes and Ayden smacked his lips. He walked over to me and placed his hands on my stomach. Of course, I moved back.
"Just get dressed, okay?"
Not given much of a choice, I went back upstairs and prepaed myself for the trip to the clinic.
***
2 hours later:
Ayden and I walked into the clinic and I was, of course, nervous. I saw Naomi, Kain, Adonis, Kieran and Kayla there as well. The only people that wasn't there was Alias and Jesslyn. Thank goodness because I don't think I was ready to have that argument. Naomi walked over to me and she gave me a slight hug.
"Follow me." She told me once she released me.
I glanced at Ayden, who just gave me a simple nod of the head. Naomi walked off and I went with her to an empty room.
"Get undressed and put the robe on." She instructed. "I'll be out here."
Naomi walked out and closed the door. I glanced around the white room, then turned my focus on the chair. Sighing, I got undressed and slipped into the robe that was sitting on the doctor's chair. Once I placed it on, I laid on the chair, waiting for Naomi to return. She came back a few minutes later with Ayden by her side. Naomi grabbed a towel from the cabinets and walked over to me.
"Place this on your lower half." She told me.
I did and Naomi moved down to where my legs were.
"I need to check how far along you are." She told me.
She walked over to the ultrasound monitor and turned it on. While she prepared to check me, I glanced at Ayden, who was watching me the whole time.
"Scoot down until your butt is on the edge." Naomi told me. "Place both of your feet in the stirrups."
I nodded and moved down until she told me to stop. My feet went to the stirrups and I laid back on the exam table. Naomi grabbed this long wand looking device and when she pressed it against my entrance, I moved away from it.
"Natalie..." Naomi said my name.
"I know, I'm sorry." I told her.
I took a deep breath and I cringed as the thing slid inside of me. Ayden moved closer to me and I grabbed his hand, immediately. It didn't hurt, but there was a lot of pressure from it. Naomi moved her chair a little bit and turned to the ultrasound monitor. I watched as her blank expression was replaced with a happy one.
"You see it?" Naomi asked.
I looked at Ayden, who stared at the screen. He smiled and nodded his head. At first, I didn't want to look at the screen. My mind was still made up for the abortion.
"Natalie, you see your baby?" Naomi asked me.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. Once I exhaled, I opened my eyes back up and turned to the monitor. Right on the screen was all it took to make more tears come from the corner of my eyes. It wasn't an egg like I thought it was. It was an actual being inside of me, kicking and moving.
"Because you're carrying a half human, half vampire, it varies in growth and pregnancy months. So, like Kieran and Kayla had a seven month pregnancy with Adonis. Your pregnancy could vary between five months to seven months. It really depends on the baby and when they are ready to come out."
"How far along am I?" I asked her.
"You're 14 weeks..."
"So, four months.”Ayden finished.
Naomi glanced at Ayden and nodded. I rolled my eyes and stared back at the screen. The room got quiet and Naomi went to taking some pictures of the baby.
"Do you want to find out the gender?" She asked me.
I glanced at Ayden, who looked at me, giving me a small smile.
"Yeah." I told her.
Naomi took some more pictures and smiled. Then, she turned to Ayden.
"Are you going to tell your brother now?" She asked him.
"Yeah, I'll tell him." Ayden told her.
I continued watching the screen and as she searched everywhere, there was nothing sticking up or anything. However, I was able to see the legs open. Smiling, I nodded my head at Naomi.
"It's a girl, right?" I asked her.
"It is." Naomi told me. "Now, do you regret your decision?"
I cringed as Naomi took the transducer out of me. Ayden helped me up and I put the robe down to cover myself up. Naomi walked over to Ayden and I.
"Ayden, step out of the room for a second." Naomi told her son.
"Okay." Ayden told her, then looked back at me. "I'll be with my father, okay?"
I nodded and Ayden walked out, closing the door behind him. Naomi turned to me and gave me a small smile.
"You have concerns." She told me.
"Of course I do." I responded. "I'm not ready... To be a mother. I don't even want to be a mother."
"And why is that?"
Naomi folded her arms over her chest as she stared at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Why don't you want to be a mother?"
"I...I just... I don't want that responsibility."
"Then, give the baby to my son. He'll definitely raise the child without you."
"That's not what I want to do. I don't want to experience the bloated belly, swollen ankles and constant sickness. I want to be my regular self."
"Hm."
I stared at her and shook my head. I knew she was already judging me from my response.
"Last time I checked, that was my decision to make."
"Well, I hope you changed your mind after seeing her."
She walked to the door, then stopped.
"Get dressed and come see me afterwards."
Naomi walked out the room and shut the door behind her. I glanced down at my stomach that was now flat and sighed. It was crazy that I was pregnant. I thought I was careful, but things happen. Sighing, I got off the bed and got dressed. I put the robe and towels in the bin before I exited the door.
"Alright, I'll talk to him." I heard Ayden say.
I walked up to them and folded my arms, turning my attention to the floor.
"Can you take me home?" I asked Ayden. "I would like to get some rest."
I glanced up at Ayden and he nodded his head. He grabbed my hand and we both walked towards the exit of the clinic. Before we could get anywhere, Naomi stopped us at the door.
"I'll make a two week appointment for you." She told me.
"....Okay." I nodded.
Naomi kissed Ayden, then walked away. A yawn escaped my lips as we stepped out of the clinic.
