3. Shattered Heart

Elijah looked back at Eric, and nodded. "Ellie is our Alpha. Ethan and I felt the Alpha power passed to her when Mason killed our parents."   Eric stood there staring at Elijah in shock. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He had never heard of there ever being a Female Alpha, let alone one with two older brothers.   The office door opened. Zeke and Sophie walked in. Eric turned and made eye contact with Sophie. He just stared at her, he was still taking in the bomb Elijah had just dropped on him.   Sophie ran over, sitting on the other side of him. "Eric are you ok, what is this look on your face?" Eric just stared at her. "ERIC!"   Eric shook his head, popping out of his trance. He looked at Sophie as if it just dawned on him she was there. A huge grin spread across his face . He quickly wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her into a hug. "You were right I just had to be patient and wait on the Moon Goddesses timing." He pulled away, keeping his hands on your shoulders. "And not only that, Sophie she is an Alpha! I have the most badass Mate ever."   Elijah let out a huge sigh, then sat back fully against the chair he was in.   They all turned and looked at Elijah. Elijah laughed, seeing the confusion on their faces. "I was worried I was going to have beat the crap out of Eric if he didn’t except Ellie being an Alpha. I've kinda grown to like him, and really didn’t want to have to do that."   Everyone laughed. Eric looked back at Sophie. "How is she? Is she ok? Where is she? Can I see her? What happened? Why did she run?"   Sophie laughed. "Woah slow down, that is a lot of questions. She is ok, Ethan and her headed back to their Packhouse. She is pretty exhausted between the Alpha ceremony and you coming up telling her you were her mate."   Eric frowned. "So she didn’t feel the Mate pull?"   Sophie laid her hand on Eric's shoulder and shook her head. "No not fully." Sophie turned and looked at Elijah. "Does he know everything now?"   Elijah nodded. "Yes I told him everything."   Sophie smiled, and turned back to Eric. "Well then you know her wolf is gone, and a spell was cast on her. I think the combination of those two things is blocking her from feeling it. She did however say she felt Rue stir for the first time when she caught a very faint hint of your scent."   Elijah jumped up. "Well that is great news, I have to go check on her now."   Eric stood up. "Can I go with you?"   "Eric, I'm sorry but I don’t think that's such a good idea." Sophie interjected. "Ellie told me to tell you she is sorry. She doesn’t know if she is ready to face you yet, but she doesn’t want you in pain either. Give her some time."   Eric rolled his eyes, and crashed back down on the couch. "Fine."   "I will see you guys tomorrow." Elijah said as he walked out of the door.   "Well it has been a long and surprising night. I think what we all need is a good nights sleep." Justin stood up holding his hand out to Sophie.   Sophie smiled and took his hand, standing up next to him. She looked down at Eric. "I have an idea how we might be able to fix this." She turned to Justin. "What if we take her to Lanie?"   Justin shook his head. "That is a terrible idea! Redferne has already made it abundantly clear he is after you, we are not going back to The Guild."   Eric stood up. "Lanie as in the witch that helped you?"   Sophie nodded and then put her hand on Justin's chest. "I'm not talking about going back to The guild, that would be suicide. I was thinking instead wo go to the Newmoons, maybe they can help us find Marina, I am hoping we will find Lanie there safe as well." She looked down at the ground. "I am honestly worried about her."   Justin looked at Sophie. "I don’t know, it could be really dangerous. We won’t have the safety of our pack."   Eric looked at Justin. "Please, I will go you and Sophie stay here. I have to help my Mate."   "Justin I will go with them, I want to help too. I don’t know why but I have this feeling I am supposed to protect Ellie." Zeke said.   Justin looked at Zeke, then Eric. His looked at his little brother standing there, blood shot eyes, hands were shaking slightly. He knew all to well what Eric was going through not being around his Mate. "Fine we will figure it out, but for now lets all get some sleep."   Eric smiled. "Thank you." He turned and walked to Zeke. "Thank you for being willing to go with me."   "Of course, that's what family does. Plus like I said, when I ran into them tonight I had this feeling I needed to keep her safe." Zeke replied.   Eric hugged Zeke, then they all made their way out of the office.   Eric stripped down to his boxers and crawled into bed. He stared up at the ceiling and smiled. He closed his eye's thinking back to earlier in the evening. He thought about the moment he laid his eye's on Ellie. He rolled over and let out a sigh, there was no way he was getting any sleep tonight.   "Just go see her." Blaze said.   "She's not ready. I need to respect her wishes." Eric replied.   "According to Sophie, she said she wasn't ready to face you. She didn’t say anything about you seeing her."   "How can I see her, without her seeing me?"   Blaze growled. "Just go to their Packhouse, but stay out of sight."   Eric grinned and jumped out of the bed, putting his clothes back on. He quietly made his way out of the Packhouse  and towards his Mate. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Elijah walked into the Packhouse and saw Ellie sitting on the couch next to Ethan. He ran over and sat next to Ellie, pulling her into a hug. "Are you ok?"   Ellie looked at him shaking her head. "I'm exhausted, but I wanted to wait up until you got back here. How is Eric?"   "He's fine."   Ellie glared at him. "You're lying."   Elijah looked at Ethan who raised his eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders.   Ellie looked back and forth between them. "You two knock that crap off and talk to me."   "He's having a hard time being apart from you, but he can handle it." Elijah reassured.   "Did you tell him about Mason?" Ellie asked.   Elijah nodded. "I told him everything."   "Like everything, everything? Does he know she is an Alpha?" Ethan interjected.   "I told him everything."   Ellie shook her head, slumping down on the couch. "Well that's just great, I was hoping to ease that one in on him. I am sure he wasn't happy about that. A Beta Mated to a female Alpha."   "I'll just beat him if he doesn’t like it El, I'll beat him until he accepts it." Ethan gritted through his teeth.   Elijah laughed. "No need, he took the news of you being an Alpha very well. In fact he said, and I quote. I have the most badass Mate ever."   Ellie looked up at Elijah her eyes wide. "He really said that?"   Elijah nodded. Ellie smiled, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink. He thinks I'm badass? She thought as she grinned like a school girl.   "Well I am glad to hear that, I didn’t want to have to beat him up. I kinda like the guy." Ethan smirked.   Elijah burst into laughter. "That is exactly what I said."   Ellie sat up shaking her head. "Let me get this straight. My two crazy over protective brothers, who barely let me out of their sight, who have beat up guys for just looking at me, like my Mate?"   Elijah and Ethan looked at each other and shrugged. "Yup." They said in unison.   Ellie stood up. "Ok I am done for the night. This is all just too much, I am going to bed." She started towards the stairs.   "I'll take first watch." Ethan said following her up. They walked to her bedroom, Ethan gave her a quick hug before she disappeared behind the door.   Ellie walked in and grabbed the oil lamp sitting on the bedside table. She picked up a box of matches beside it lighting it up, she picked it up off of the table. She walked to closet and looked around. Dahlia had some old pack members gather some things up she thought she could use. She picked out a long white nightgown and slipped into it. She stood in front of the mirror looking at herself. She let out a soft sigh running her hand down her hair. How could a man as handsome as Eric ever want to be with a girl like me, she thought. I have the hair of an old woman, and I am not beautiful. She softly touched her face with both hands. Why would the Moon Goddess pick such a good looking man to Mate me with? She shook her head and picked up the lamp walking back out of the closet. She stopped and looked at the bed, she was exhausted but her mind was reeling. She turned and headed towards a set of two glass doors on the other side of the room.   She sat the lamp down on a Table next to the doors then opened them both wide, revealing a small balcony, if you could even call it that. It was basically just a small little piece of concrete about 2 feet by 4 feet, in a curved shape. A metal railing wrapped around the edge and attached to the house on both sides of the French doors. Ellie stepped forward and leaned against the railing. She closed her eye's and smiled wide as the scent of honeysuckle danced on the breeze hitting her nose. I'm going to have to go exploring tomorrow and find out where the honeysuckles are, she thought. She stared out into the darkness and then up to the moon.   She let out a deep sigh as she thought of Eric telling her he was her Mate, and how because of Mason she didn’t feel the pull like he did. Her eyes started swelling with tears as her mind drifted back to the moment Mason told her of his deceit, and killed her parents. She fell to her knees grasping her chest, taken back to that very moment. The moment that her heart was shattered into a million pieces. She let out a gut wrenching whale, the tears now falling as she sobbed, still clutching her chest. Just then she felt two arms wrap around her and pull her up. She sobbed as Ethan hugged her tightly.   "What is it? What is wrong?"   "It still hurts, my chest, it just hurts so bad." She sobbed into his chest, his t-shirt becoming tear soaked.   Ethan rubbed her back and tried to soothe her, but she continued to shake uncontrollably in his arms. He was filled with anger and rage towards the man who had harmed his sister.   They heard a rustle in the tree across from Ellie's window. Ethan looked at the Tree, then quickly pulled Ellie into the room closing both doors behind him and locking them.
