Comfort zone

chapter 1

My alarm clock wakes me up at ten o'clock in the morning on weekends, I open my eyes and my room is filled with light, assuming my mom has already been to my room, I get off the bed and make my way to the bathroom,I look at my reflection on the mirror for a while before brushing my teeth and getting into the shower. After a good thirty minutes I get out the shower with a towel wrapped around my body and start drying myself and get dressed.

After I've made my bed I make my way downstairs ,I see my dad and mom sitting in the kitchen while my brother is making them breakfast. "Hey there baby,come sit with us your brother is making us his breakfast special this morning to celebrate your great achievement" my mom says with a big smile across her face when she sees me. I was doing matric and the day or two day before the actual release of everyone's results, the department of education invites the national top achievers for an award ceremony that will be broadcast on national TV and I am one of them. " Hey, good morning everyone. Thanks mom " I say returning a smile " Thanks BJ for this, it means a lot" I thank my brother for the his breakfast special. "You know I got your back lil sis, so you still haven't changed your mind about attending this ceremony?" says my brother, " Nope, but I thought you would take me out? the two of us just to celebrate, I mean you're going back to school in a few days and I'm going to school too , so..." "oh you know I got you baby,and some lil back to school stuff? ask dad for some cash and we'll leave right after breakfast. Yo mum, can we borrow your car? he's smiling and winking at dad then turns to mom to ask for the car.

Mom is just so happy that her babies are growing up and are still as close as we were when we were younger "Of course baby,but mine don't have enough gas,dad will give you his okay?'' "okay mum" after breakfast ,we had everything we needed and we left for the mall. My brother is four years older than me, he's named after our father, he's Benjamin junior, everyone close to him calls him BJ. He's so overprotective of me and I don't mine it because I love him. He's doing his last year as medical and surgical student in Pretoria, and I'm going to be doing mathematical sciences in Cape town, I wanted to do something that'll challenge me and keep busy,as I'm an introvert and won't be doing a lot of outings and such. Dad just gave us his credit card because BJ convinced him that things have changed now, I know.

We first got lunch and during lunch my brother was telling me the do's and don'ts but he realised that he was talking to an introvert who will be locking herself in her dorm, he just said to me to push them to give me a single room, and that was it. We went on to our shopping and finished late as we went from store to store,but we got almost everything.
