Rainy day

Well it's been a couple days. We have gone on a few more rides and Blackjack knows I don't play. He's a pretty decent horse. I've gone out with Connor most mornings to help feed since i'm up that early and have nothing better to do. Except this morning, I slept in. Marie actually got up before me, which is impressive.

"Well good morning sunshine. What had you sleeping in late" Marie laughed

"That's a comfy bed and I didn't want to get up" I laughed back

"Would you like breakfast hun?" Their mom asked

"Yes please" I smiled

She handed me a plate of food and I sat next to my friend. The two of us ate our food and I helped her do up the dishes. Then, as most mornings, we went to the living room and sat on the couch to watch tv.

"So what time are you leaving today?" I asked

"Probably 11:30 or 12. Depends on when she wakes up" Marie laughed

"Nice" I smiled

"You sure you don't want to come?" She asked

"I'm sure. I'll hang with the pups" I said

"I don't even know if anyone is going to be home, so just don't lock yourself out" My friend laughed

"I make no promises. You'll come back and i'll just be on the porch all helpless" I chuckled

"Good thing we have a covered porch, because of course we picked the day it's going to rain to go out for lunch" Marie said shaking her head

"Hun, what time are you leaving again?" Their mom asked walking in

"Around noon why" She replied

"Are you okay staying here by yourself Becca? I have a few errands to run today then I have to go to the office" She said

"Yeah, i'll find something to keep myself busy. Been living in a dorm for 2 years it's not too hard" I shrugged "Or I could nap"

"You don't nap" Marie said

"I know. But that's always an option" I smiled

"Okay. You two have a good day love you" Their mom said

"Love you mom" Marie said

She walked out of the room and I laid on my friend. Then a dog came out of no where and licked my face.

"I did not appreciate that" I laughed

Marie laughed at me and we decided to watch Chicago PD. It's been a cop show week. We've watched a few different shows as well but mostly cop ones. Glancing out the window, we watched the rain slowly start coming and it just seems like a misty rain right now.

"Well. I hope it stays like this. I will be back a few. Call me if you need anything. I think Connor is here somewhere his trucks outside. Or he's out with his buddies I don't know" Marie said

"Have fun. I'm gonna raid your kitchen for lunch." I laughed

She just shook her and and got off the couch. My friend left the room and came back a few minutes later in a nice-ish outfit and her bag. She waved and walked out the door. Hmm. What do I want for lunch. After laying on the couch for 10 minutes I could hear the rain pick up and I glanced out the window.

"Sheesh" I said

It's very windy out there too. Kinda like the storm when we got here. Okay food. I don't know, I don't really want to raid their kitchen. Eh i'll just wait till Marie gets back and make her find me food. A couple minutes later my phone started ringing and- is that a Montana number?

"Hello?" I said

"Hey it's Connor. Do you want food?" He said

"Yes?" I said

"You sound confused on that" He laughed

"Where are you?" I asked

"My buddy and I were going to go fishing but obviously that didn't happen. So we're stopping at taco bell. Do you want anything?" He asked

"I guess their crunch wrap combo, with no tomatoes" I said

"A drink comes with that right?" He asked

"Yes? I guess a cherry pepsi" I replied

"Okay, we'll be back in like half and hour" He laughed

"Cool. I will be here since i'm stranded" I said

"Poor thing" He replied

We both said bye and hung up. Hmm do I save his number? I guess so, in case Marie gets s**t faced during the week and I don't want to deal with her anymore. Make her brother carry her drunk ass, i've done it enough times. You know, he said we. So is his buddy coming over? I love awkwardness. About half an hour later I heard a truck and soon a door opened.

"Becca!" I heard

"In here" I replied

"C'mon" Connor said popping his head in

Getting up off the couch, I followed the boy to the kitchen where another kid was standing as well.

"Hi" The kid said

"Hi" I replied

"This is Marie's roommate Becca. She's staying here for spring break. And Marie is out with her friends and she didn't want to go. So here is food, I was asked to feed you" Connor said

"So are you a vet too?" The kid asked

"No, I went for tech. But we ended up getting placed in the same room after my roommate left" I said

"Oh cool. So where are you from?" He asked

"New York. Outskirts, I guess you could say" I replied

"You're from New York?" Connor asked

"Yeah" I laughed "Did you not know that?"

"I think she mentioned where you were from, but I wasn't paying attention" Connor said

"Ah" I nodded

They went through the bags and Connor handed me my food and drink. Oh I haven't had taco bell in so long. We just make our own tacos in our dorm when we get hungry at random hours of the night. We love pulling all nighters to study. Anyway there's no tacobell near our dorm, very sad.

"You look so happy" Connor's friend said

"It's been a hot minute since i've had tacobell" I said

"Marie said you guys have tacos all the time. And I see her post them on her story" Connor said

"Yeah, I make the tacos. We have a*****e right behind our college so we walk over and grab supplies when we want tacos. A lot of times it's at 1am but you know." I shrugged

"Huh. Interesting" The kid said

We all finished our food, and I threw my trash away then just awkwardly sat at my seat with my drink. I don't want to just walk away, but I also don't want to sit here. They're done eating too and just playing on their phones. Glancing out the window, it was still storming pretty bad. I mean I could here the thunder and now I see the lightning.

"I guess it's not a good idea to go see your barn animals" I said

Connor looked over his shoulder and shook his head "Nah"

"Hmm, whelp. Back to the couch. Thank you for lunch" I said

"You're welcome. We might come in there too. It's pretty bad out there and his truck's check engine light came on while we were driving back." Connor said

I nodded and walked back to the living room. Sitting back in my spot on the couch, Connors friend came in and sat in the chair. Connor was no where to be found though.

"He's letting the dogs out." The kid said

"Oh okay. Uhm. What's your name?" I asked

"Oh yeah. My name's Braxton" He laughed

"Hm nice. I don't think I know a Braxton" I said

"Yeah it's not too common" He replied

I heard paws and soon two wet dogs came bounding into the room followed by a semi wet Connor.

"Hi pups" I laughed

They rubbed up against my legs then went and laid down.

"Huh, guess you don't mind wet dog" Braxton said

"It's better then bodily fluids"I replied looking at him

He looked at me and shrugged as Connor sat next to me on the couch.

"Sup" I said

"Sup" He replied "What are you watching?"

"Chicago PD" I replied

"Do you care if we put on a movie? I've seen all of these" Connor asked

"Go for it" I said handing him the remote

He went on the guide and started scrolling then my phone rang. Standing up, I walked out of the room and it's Marie, huh.

"Hey, you good?" I said picking up

"Yeah i'm fine. Was just checking in on you" She said

"Oh. I'm good" I laughed

"Did Connor bring you food?" She asked

"Yeah. Him and his friend, uh, Braxton. They got tacobell" I said

"Oh man I miss taco bell." She said

"So did I. How are you guys doing? Braving this storm?" I asked

"We all met up at a small mom and pop shop and got lunch to go. We're at my one friends house. The one who works over night. She's tired so we came here. So i'll probably be a while since it's a mess outside and flooded by her house. Granted I have a truck" Marie said

"Jeez. Your brother's friend is stuck here cause I think his check engine light came on? I don't remember" I said

"Why don't you ask" Marie asked

"I left the living room" I laughed back

"Ah so you guys are all in there?" Marie said

"Yeah. Connor and I are on the couch and the Braxton kid is on the chair" I said

"Braxton is cool. He's like Connor's best friend. I'm pretty sure you guys are all the same age. You're 23 right?" She asked

"Yup" I laughed

"Then yeah. You guys are the same age. There make friends and when you move here I won't be your only friend" Marie said

"No one said i'm moving to Montana" I chuckled

I heard foot steps and Connor was walking into the bathroom.

"Why not" She pouted

"Because, I don't know. I don't want to go back to New York. Unless maybe I move away from my family. Maybe i'll go to Pennsylvania. Aren't you with your friends why are you asking these questions" I laughed

"I'm taking a s**t" Marie laughed

"Of course. Well i'm gonna go sit back down. Don't stink up their bathroom cause your terrible" I said

"Love you" Marie said

"Love you too dork" I laughed

Hanging up, I walked back to the room and sat back in the spot. Then Connor came walking back in a few seconds later.

"We're watching The Women in Black 2" Connor said

"That's a good movie" I replied

"Nothing better then to watch it during a storm" Braxton said

I nodded and brought my feet up on the couch. Tucking them under me, I leaned on the pillow on the side of the couch.

"You comfy over there?" Connor asked

"Well I don't have Marie to use as a pillow so, this will do" I said

He went to say something then stopped and Braxton laughed. I looked at the two boys and leaned back into my pillow. The thunder is very loud now, even the dogs keep lifting up their heads, looking at us, then going back to sleep. About halfway through the movie, Connor looked at his phone then paused it.

"I gotta check on the animals real fast i'll be right back" Connor said

"You want a hand?" Braxton asked

"Sure" He replied

"I'm staying here. I'm comfy" I laughed

The two boys chuckled and headed through the house and, i'm guessing, outside. Ah, I wish Marie was here. And why is my mother calling me. Damn i'm Miss Popular today.

"Hello" I said

"Hello hun. How's Montana" She said

"Good" I replied

"When are you coming back home?" She asked

"Probably after graduation is the next chance i'll get" I said

"Oh. I don't know if we'll make it out there for your graduation" She replied

"That's fine." I said back

"We could if you picked a closer school. Then we could even visit" My mom said

"I like my school. Even got some job offers out here" I said

"You're not going to move out there are you?" She asked

"Well, if I get a good offer out here before I do back home then maybe" I said

"I'll ask around. Did you get a new car yet?" My mom asked

"Nope, don't need one" I replied

"Okay, well I have to go help your father, good bye" She said

"Bye" I replied

Hanging up, I rolled my eyes and leaned into the couch. I heard foot steps and soon the two boys showed back up and there was a loud clap of thunder.

"Damn" Braxton said

The two boys sat back in their seats and Connor unpaused the movie. These two are soaked, but looks like they had coats on.

"Did you boys have fun?" I asked

"No" They said

I chuckled and we finished watching the movie. Was good. Connor handed the remote to Braxton and he started scrolling through the channels.

"Hey, have you heard from my sister recently?" Connor asked

"Not since before the movie" I replied

"Hm. Interesting" He said

"I can call her" I said

"Can you?" He asked

Nodding, I pulled my phone out and called Marie. It rang a few times and she picked up as there was a loud c***k of thunder.

"Hey" She laughed

"Hey. Are you coming home soon?" I asked

"I actually just pulled up" She replied

"Oh, cool" I laughed

"Yup, see you in a couple seconds" Marie laughed back

"Yup" I replied

Hanging up, I put my phone down and the boys kinda just glanced at me. Then the front door opened and the dogs took off.

"Hi boys" Marie laughed from a distance

"She's home" Connor said

"Yes" I laughed

"Hi" Marie said walking in

"Hi" We all said back

"Are you two treating my friend right?" Marie said leaning on the back of the couch

"I would assume so" Braxton said

"We fed her" Connor laughed

"I'm gonna get changed then i'll be down" Marie said

We all nodded and Marie wandered away. And now I have to pee. Getting up, I walked to the bathroom and did my business. T'was a long pee. Washing my hands, I went back to the living room and Marie was in my spot. So I just stopped and pouted.

"What?" Marie laughed

"I was sitting there" I pouted

"So, sit between us" She replied

"But. But. Then I can't lean on the edge" I said

"I know my brother smells but you don't have to make it obvious" Marie laughed

I laughed and Connor glared at her. Walking over to the couch, I sat between the siblings and put my hands on my lap. Proper sitting.

"You have been sitting with your feet up and half leaning all day. And now you sit all proper?" Braxton laughed

"What else am I suppose to do" I replied

"Slouch?" He said

I shrugged and looked at Marie, then smirked.

"What" She said

"Pillow" I smiled, then laid on her "Hello friend"

"Hi" She laughed

"Is this what you two do at school?" Connor asked

"Yes" We both said

"Sometimes you just need a cuddle buddy" I replied

"Especially since we can't have pets" Marie added

"Sucks" I sighed

"Can we watch a movie now?" Connor asked

"I think someone else needs a hug" Marie said

"He has his friend" I said

"True" She replied

Sitting back regularly, I leaned back and just barely touched shoulders with Connor. Braxton picked NCIS: Los Angeles. This storm is still very loud.

"So how was the drive home?" Connor said

"Not bad. Well no- bad. It's pouring and the lightning lights up the sky every few seconds and the thunder is loud as hell" Marie said

"Damn. Of course my check engine light comes on today. And I would just ignore it but it's been running weird so I don't want to risk it" Braxton said

"Someone wouldn't let me drive my truck up" I pouted

"Why not?" Connor asked

"She'd be working on it the whole time. Do you know how often she's in the parking lot with her truck" Marie said

"Hey, old truck problems" I said

"You should bring it up one day" Connor said "I wanna see it"

"You can see it more if you follow my i********:" I winked

"Yeah sure" He shrugged

I laughed and told him my i********: handle and Braxton also followed me.

"Oh it's like Connor's truck. Yours is nice" Braxton said

"Thanks" I replied

"That is a nice truck" Connor said

"I hope it makes the drive back to New York" I laughed

"Well. If we follow my plan, you can just take my truck. Well I'll come with you, I want to see New York" Marie said

"What's your plan?" Connor asked

"Her move out here" She said

"You want to move out here?" Connor said looking at me

"I don't know. I need a job and I don't want to go back home" I shrugged

"Well, Blackjack can get worked more" Connor said

"Sir, I did not say i'm moving into your house" I laughed

"Well if Marie got her way you probably could" He nodded

"Nah we're gonna go take a piece of land and build our own house and live together" Marie said

Connor laughed and Marie sat up real fast.

"Oh, Friday night. We're going to the bar" She said

"You two have fun" Connor said

"No, you come. Braxton you can come too" Marie said

"Who are you going with?" Braxton asked

"My friends. But when I get shitfaced I need someone to keep her company cause somebody doesn't get drunk as fast" Marie said

"Hey, I know how to pace myself and drink water and eat while i'm drinking" I laughed

"So you need a DD" Connor said

"Well I was gonna see if mom or dad wanted to drive us. And pick us up" Marie said

"Dad might. I'll think about it" Connor said

"I'm down" Braxton smiled

Connor sighed and we continued to watch TV. I don't think i'm going to sleep much tonight.
